Spring allergies were one thing. But now we need to talk about something more serious: ticks.

Tick season doesn't start in summer. It starts NOW. Early May. And if you're not already protecting your pet, you're already behind.

Here's why ticks are a big deal:

TICKS CAN CARRY:
→ Lyme disease (lameness, joint pain, can become chronic)
→ Ehrlichiosis (fever, lethargy, serious if untreated)
→ Anaplasmosis (similar symptoms to Lyme)
→ Rocky Mountain spotted fever (can be fatal)
→ Babesiosis (affects red blood cells) ONE tick bite can change everything.

THE GOOD NEWS: Prevention is simple, affordable, and 99%+ effective.

HERE'S WHAT WE RECOMMEND:
✔ Check your pet DAILY for ticks (especially after outdoor time)
✔ Use veterinary-recommended tick prevention (not the pet store stuff — it doesn't work)
✔ Avoid tick-heavy areas when possible (tall grass, woods, brush)

Summer's almost here. 🌞

Before your pet goes on their big adventure, here's what we check during a pre-summer wellness exam.

It's not just a 'your pet looks healthy' visit.

We're checking EVERYTHING to make sure they're ready for heat, activity, and the unexpected.

WHAT WE CHECK:
→ Heart and lungs (especially important before increased activity)
→ Weight and body condition (carrying extra weight in heat = serious risk)
→ Skin and ears (catch allergies or infections early)
→ Teeth and gums (dental disease doesn't take summer off)
→ Joints and mobility (especially for senior pets doing summer activities)
→ Current medications (need refills before travel?)
→ Parasite prevention status (this is NON-NEGOTIABLE for summer)

This one visit can prevent a lot of problems down the road. Summer adventures are amazing. But they're safer when you start with a wellness check.
