Congratulations to our Employee of the Month, April Darnell! Since joining
the Old Dominion Animal Hospital team just a few months ago, April has
quickly become a vital part of our back staff and surgery team. As a

Our final summer holiday weekend has arrived. As a friendly reminder, we will be closed in observance of the Labor Day holiday on Monday September 7th.

As we won't be open during our normal business hours on Monday, we encourage all of our pet parents to double and triple check that they have all of the medications and food for their pets that they need to get through the weekend.

Be safe, stay cool and we will see you on Tuesday.

UPDATE: Vixen has been located.

We're activating our puppy dog search party (that means you)!

Vixen is an incredibly sweet but also fairly nervous gal who escaped today. She wasn't wearing a collar or any form of identification.

If you spot her or lure her to safety, please give us a call so that we can reunite her with her family.

Reviews like this make our day!

We’re so grateful Alexis trusted Dr. Megan Badger and our team to care for her nervous pup. We believe every pet deserves patience, compassion, and an approach tailored to what helps them feel safe—even if that means using a few silly tricks along the way!

Have you had a great experience with our team? We’d love to hear about it! Your review not only encourages us, but also helps other pet parents feel confident choosing compassionate care for their furry family members. Leave us a review and share your experience!

With the combination of extreme heat and smoke from the Canadian wildfires, our pets are feeling it too.

Just like people, dogs and cats can experience irritation from poor air quality. If the air looks hazy or you can smell smoke, it’s a good idea to:
• Limit long walks and strenuous outdoor play.
• Keep pets indoors as much as possible with windows closed.
• Make sure they always have access to fresh, cool water.
• Watch for signs of trouble like coughing, wheezing, excessive panting, watery eyes, lethargy, or difficulty breathing.

Brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds, senior pets, puppies and kittens, and pets with heart or lung disease are especially vulnerable.

If your pet is having trouble breathing or seems unusually distressed, don’t wait—contact your veterinarian right away.

Stay cool, stay safe, and give your furry family members a little extra TLC during this stretch of hot, smoky weather.
