Liam has been a valued employee at Old Dominion Animal Hospital since August 2022. In his role as a veterinary assistant, he consistently demonstrates exceptional
dedication, compassion, and a strong work ethic.

Liam is always willing to step in whenever help is needed, ensuring both patients and team members are supported each day. We are also excited to add that Liam has been accepted in the Veterinary Technician program at Blue Ridge Community College and will be starting this fall. We look forward to seeing all that you accomplish in the future. Congratulations Liam!!

In observance of Memorial Day, our hospital will be closed on Monday, May 26.

As we enjoy the holiday weekend, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday. If your pet experiences an emergency while we are closed, please contact Virginia Veterinary Specialist and Emergency at 434-202-2987.

Whether they’re comforting worried pet parents, coordinating urgent visits, or juggling a full schedule with grace, they do it all with kindness and professionalism.

Our reception team doesn’t just manage the front desk—they create a welcoming space, advocate for your pets, and help keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Their role is vital, and their impact is felt in every interaction.

Cecily is an 11-year-old sweetheart currently being fostered through ODAH. Due to heartbreaking circumstances, her owner—who is facing terminal cancer—entrusted our clinic with her care, and we are so honored to love on her during this season.

This gentle girl enjoys the simple things: soft pets, tasty treats, sunny spots, and a little catnip now and then.

Cecily can be a bit timid at first, so she’ll need someone patient who will go slow and let her warm up at her own pace.

She may not be a lap cat, but she truly enjoys being near her people and will sweetly ask for attention when she’s ready.

We are hoping to find Cecily a calm, loving home where she can spend her golden years feeling safe and cared for. Until then, she’ll be soaking up love here with us as our honorary clinic cat

Pax is a 14-month-old Belgian Malinois who has completed puppy and kindergarten training classes in Charlottesville and has also graduated from Level 3 training at Deer Creek Kennel in North Carolina. He is friendly with adults and children and does well with other dogs. At his young age, he already demonstrates strong protective instincts.

He is being rehomed because, like many Malinois, Pax has a strong prey drive and cannot live safely with the family’s indoor cats.

Pax is a joyful, playful dog who is extremely intelligent and very athletic. He is affectionate, personable, and eager to bond with his people. He would thrive with an individual or family experienced with active breeds in a home without cats.

Rehoming fee: $2,500. Serious inquiries only. The fee may be negotiable for the right home.

Meet Teddy!

One of our brave chemo patients, pictured here with our amazing licensed tech Liz. While the word chemotherapy can sound scary, veterinary chemo is very different from what many people expect. Our goal is comfort, quality of life, and giving pets more good days with the families who love them.

Teddy comes in wagging, gets spoiled with attention, and heads home the same day. Most pets tolerate treatment incredibly well — many continue eating, playing, and living their normal routines throughout care.

Cancer is tough. But hope, compassion, and good medicine are powerful too. We’re honored to walk this journey with families like Teddy’s and to celebrate every victory, big and small.

Please don’t bring cats into the clinic unrestrained. For their safety, we ask that all cats arrive in carriers, strollers, backpacks, or on a leash.
