Our Neurology team recently completed a hemilaminectomy, a spinal surgery used to remove a herniated disc that is putting pressure on the spinal cord and nerves. This pressure can cause significant pain, neurologic deficits, and even paralysis.

🌟Patient Spotlight 🌟
After being hit by a car, Mochi spent 9 days at VVSE recovering from multiple surgeries, including the repair of pelvic fractures. Throughout his hospitalization, this sweet boy showed incredible strength, resilience, and bravery every step of the way.

We're so proud to share that Mochi was able to walk out of our hospital and continue his recovery at home. Way to go, Mochi!🐾🎉

Before Dr. Young starts with VVSE next week, he travelled to Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine to teach students, interns and residents on their neurology rotation. They had a very busy week with a number of exciting cases. Dr. Young was able to teach the third-year resident how to place a shunt into the ventricular system. They also had a case of cryptococcus, a fungal infection, that uncommonly infects the brain, which was treated by injecting an anti-fungal medication around the brain. Thank you to Auburn for a great week and Dr. Young for taking the time share his wealth of knowledge.

Pr*****ed gland of the third eyelid, also known as Cherry Eye, is a common ocular condition typically occurring in younger dogs. Our Ophthalmologist, Dr. Sara Smith, can correct this condition with a simple outpatient surgery.
