Let's do this! Vaccine clinics today and tomorrow around Charlottesville, through a company called ShotVet. Gonna be interesting later when the hurricane remnants come through. These are all outdoor clinics!

Rabies is actively circulating in Virginia, with raccoons as the primary animal species spreading it. Keeping our animals current on rabies vaccines not only protects them, but our families as well!

Protect the ones you love! 🐶🐱🐴Have your veterinarian vaccinate your dogs, cats, ferrets, and selected livestock and remember to keep their vaccinations up-to-date. A directory of veterinarians can be found at https://www.vvma.org/. Virginia Veterinary Medical Association (VVMA)

It’s official! I will be opening for business in Virginia in mid-September, I will be serving Charlottesville and Albemarle county, as well as surrounding areas. Getting used to having no cell service on rural roads and preparing for lots of tick-borne diseases. I will be focused on house calls for wellness services and minor illnesses for dogs and cats, and will continue to offer in-home euthanasia. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Free veterinary care is expanding for DeKalb County residents.

LifeLine operates DeKalb County Animal Services as part of Atlanta’s lifesaving system, and keeping pets healthy in their homes is a critical part of that mission.

Through expanded services, DeKalb residents now have access to more free spay/neuter appointments, including weekend options, 8 free mobile vaccine clinics each month, and help for sick or injured pets.

These services help remove barriers to care, support families, and keep pets where they belong: with the people who love them.

Ticks, man. This is a tough tick season nearly everywhere. Once upon a time I worked on tickborne disease at CDC, so feel pretty passionate about prevention. Right now I am liking Nexguard Plus for my tick magnet dogs, and sometimes I add a Seresto collar when they are in tick prone areas. Thought y'all might appreciate a 2026 photo of Dr Jen flagging for ticks in Virginia and trying to figure out the different species present so I can tailor a control plan. The tube has permethrin-treated cotton in the hopes that local small rodents will take it back to their nests to control the stages that like to feed on them!

Having the best week helping allll the dogs and cats on the Fort Apache reservation this week! Always so impressed by my RAVS teammates, and the love so many tribal members have for their pets.
