☀️Summer is made for adventures, but remember—your pet is wearing a fur coat 24/7!🥵
Before you head out:
🔥 If the pavement is too hot for your hands or bare feet, it’s too hot for those adorable toe beans.
🏖️ Headed to the beach? Sand can get even hotter than pavement and can burn sensitive paw pads in seconds🔥🚨
⏱️ Use the 7 Second Rule - press the back of your hand to the pavement or sand for 7 seconds, if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!!🔥
💧 Bring plenty of fresh, cool drinking water, beach umbrella, and take frequent shade breaks. Misting fans are great!
🌳 Stick to shaded areas whenever possible.
🌅 PLEASE do not run with your dogs!! Plan walks and outdoor adventures for early mornings or evenings when temperatures are lower.
🧴 Don’t forget a pet-friendly sunscreen! Pets with light-colored fur, pink noses, thin coats, or exposed skin can get painful sunburns, too. (Human sunscreen isn’t safe for pets if licked.)
🚗 And for the love of wagging tails… never leave your pet in a parked car. Not even for “just a minute.”
🚨 Know the signs of heatstroke:
🐾 Heavy panting
🐾 Excessive drooling
🐾 Weakness or wobbling
🐾 Vomiting or diarrhea
🐾 Bright red gums
🐾 Collapse
If your pet is showing signs of overheating, move them to a cool area, offer small amounts of water, and contact your veterinarian right away.
🚨 Heatstroke is a medical emergency 🚨
