It’s been a while on updates, but we are finally in a good place. Albeit, It’s very costly monthly between prescription diet canned food, and his medications and supplements monthly.

We did a six month check up a couple weeks ago and all of his levels are within normal range so the Cushing’s disease is finally being managed and with that prohibits all the other problems we were having for so long.

With the Cushing’s and the hypothyroidism untreated he was at 52 pounds when all this first started, and I’m confident he had this for a while before the problem started appearing by just looking at pictures previously that have come up.

Now I am happy to say he is 39 pounds and not quite looking lean yet but he looks great and he feels great which is the most important thing

It was a nightmare journey for way too long, but I am glad I fought for my boy because there was no doubt in my mind we could get to good again no matter what and we did !

Just got home from work found him like this so that just means he is Uber comfy and that’s the best thing ever !

New UTI meds we started yesterday are finally kicking in after two days of lethargy and me hand feeding him ice cubes because he would not drink any water.

His Cushing’s disease medication comes tomorrow and then we start that. Hopeful that it is a correct dosage and we won’t need to go through testing month after month like we did for hypothyroidism last year.

Well, I’ve suddenly realized I’ve had Tucker on food that he is obviously allergic to for way too long (recommended by previous Vet, and I blindly trusted because the situation was so stressful for months) hydrolyzed proteins are not working, he is still reacting.

So in order to keep IBD and pancreatitis in check it looks like I’m going have to start ordering food from Canada and Australia, because all the food in the states is loaded with chicken or just a bunch of bu****it.

If this doesn’t work, we are going to home-cooked food so wish us luck. We have a vet visit Friday for a follow up ultrasound and complete bloodwork panel.

I’m so tired of being tired and stressed out and just want my boy happy and healthy for the last few years he has left. He’s the sweetest, kindest soul I’ve been blessed to spend my daily life with. He never meets a stranger and people are drawn to him.

He’s also been so resilient through all of this. I hate I’ve put him through so much unnecessary stuff because of lack of attention from Vet, and me grasping at straws every which way I can.

I’m so mad at myself for trusting my old Vet, twice they recommended a diet that he was allergic to and should’ve put him on long-term antibiotics in the fall instead of him finally getting that treatment in February when we switched veterinarians. I went with it because his G.I. symptoms were so severe . It was and is an awful feeling.

Everything he eats makes him want to eat himself !

It’s been almost 4 weeks of up-and-down with a couple flares of G.I. symptoms due to initially lowering antibiotics dosage…..to heartworm dosage (flare) and me trying to not have him stressed out during thunderstorms, like he usually is (physically trembling) with a couple doses of trazodone, twice…. 5 days apart…..
which then set off another flare.

Fingers crossed for trying just to get back to one solid week of no symptoms and not feeling icky.

First time in almost 4 weeks, we are just about back to normal.

The vet said this is a trial and error chronic disease to deal with but I mean dang, is this stressful!

Unexpected vet visit yesterday as his symptoms flared up since we were trying to go down to one antibiotic a day instead of two. Now we know, and he’s definitely feeling better today thankfully!

Fingers crossed for the follow up ultrasound next month. Still getting a good report.!
