Is your dog a spooky dog 👀
Meaning—do they get scared by seemingly “random” things? Here is a great way to teach them how to approach unfamiliar objects with curiosity, and not fear. This process can increase your dog’s confidence, AND they’re resilience 💪🏼

Spent these last 3 days learning alongside another trainer at a virtual conference and honestly—this is one of my favorite parts of this work!

Because no matter how many dogs I’ve worked with, there’s always more to understand.

More nuance.
More context.
More ways to meet each dog as an individual.

At Canine Compass, we don’t believe in “I’ve been doing this long enough, I know what works.”
We believe your dog deserves someone who is constantly learning, evolving, and refining their approach.

So when you work with us, you’re not just getting our singular experience—
you’re getting everything we continue to invest in behind the scenes to do right by you and your dog.

Thanks for joining me, 🐾

One way to help your dog’s “down-stay” last longer is to help them be more comfortable in the position! By allowing for their hips to settle to one side, your dog is much less likely to hop up and break the command.

No doubt about it 🤩

Attention barking is the worsttttt! 😅But here is one way we teach dogs what we want them to do INSTEAD of barking at us for attention.
This behavior can be tricky for most dog owners to solve, because it can be reinforced so easily (and on accident!) It’s also important to note that saying “no” or “no barking” can actually reinforce it as well.
What have you tried before to get your dog to stop barking? Share with us below!

A Note of Heartfelt Thanks 🐾✨

I have been reflecting on how far we’ve come as we approach our 2-year anniversary of being in business next month. I am so incredibly proud to share that our team has officially reached 50 five-star reviews in less than two years!

When I first started this business, I dreamed of creating a resource for helping pets and their humans truly thrive together. Seeing that vision come to life—and growing to a point where I have an incredible fellow trainer by my side helping to make it happen—is more than I ever could have imagined.

To our clients: Thank you. Thank you for trusting us with your furry family members. Every review represents a story of a breakthrough, a strengthened bond, and a lot of hard work from both the pups and their dedicated owners.

We are so lucky to do what we love every single day. Here’s to the next 50 milestones!

With deep gratitude,
Ellie & The Team 🐶❤️

Anyone else’s dog struggling with the change? 😅

Obviously there’s a ton more steps and things to do during this period, but I figured I would share one of the exercises we use for introducing a new pet into the home!
