ADOPTED: Candy ❤️

From the moment she arrived, Candy had the sweetest soul. She loved being close to her people, loved a comfy place to nap, and never missed an opportunity to soak up affection. She had a gentle way about her that made it impossible not to fall in love with her.

Watching dogs realize they’re safe will always be one of my favorite things, and Candy embraced that safety with her whole heart. The scared, uncertain days became cozy naps, happy adventures, and the kind of peace every dog deserves.

And now? She gets to spend the rest of her life surrounded by people who chose her.

Thank you to her foster family for loving her, advocating for her, and helping her get to this moment. And congratulations to Candy’s new family on gaining one very special girl.

So happy for you, sweet Candy. You’re finally home. ❤️🏡🐾

Loco Update ☀️❤️

One of my favorite things about rescue is watching dogs realize they’re safe.

It doesn’t happen overnight, but little by little, you see it. They start to relax. They nap deeper. They seek out affection. They roll around in the grass without a care in the world.

Just look at Loco.

This sweet girl has been settling into her foster home beautifully. She’s enjoying the sunshine, getting along well with her foster siblings, and becoming more comfortable every day.

Seeing her belly-up in the grass is a reminder of how far she’s already come.

Now all she needs is a forever family to continue her journey and show her that this life of love, comfort, and security is here to stay. 🏡

Until then, she’ll be busy working on her tan and perfecting her professional sunbathing skills. ☀️🥰

Penny is requesting thoughts & prayers after being subjected to the harsh conditions of… light rain. ☔️

After refusing to let even a single paw touch the wet ground, her foster was forced to carry her outside like the tiny fragile princess she believes she is.

Thankfully, she has since recovered and returned to her preferred activity: laying dramatically in the sun like she pays the mortgage. ☀️

🐾Dobermans & Drafts! 🍻

Looking for your next best friend? Come spend the afternoon with Dogwood Doberman Rescue and learn about the amazing Dobermans currently searching for their forever homes.

Some of our local adoptable dogs will be attending the event, and our volunteers will be there to tell you about all of the dogs in our program, answer questions, and walk you through the adoption process. Whether you’re ready to adopt now or just starting to think about it, we’d love to meet you!

Right now, we have an incredible group of Dobermans in rescue—from playful goofballs to sweet seniors—all waiting for a family of their own. ❤️

Two senior girls walked into a shelter with gray faces, tired eyes, and no idea what was coming next.

Zora should have been spending her days stealing couch space and collecting forehead kisses.

Loco should have been sleeping peacefully in a warm bed, not wondering why everything she knew had disappeared.

Instead, they found themselves scared, confused, and waiting.

Today they’re safe. They’re loved. They’re decompressing in foster homes surrounded by soft blankets, full bowls, and people who care.

But while these girls are finally exhaling, our rescue is carrying several dogs with significant medical needs. Dogs who need diagnostics, medications, surgeries, follow-up care, and a chance to heal before they can find their forever families.

Every time we say “yes” to a dog in need, we take on the responsibility of their care. And right now, that responsibility is growing faster than our funds.

The hardest part of rescue isn’t saying yes.

It’s looking at a dog who needs help and wondering if we can afford to save them.

If you’ve ever loved a senior dog… if you’ve ever kissed a gray muzzle… if you’ve ever looked into a dog’s eyes and known they deserved better… please consider donating today.

🐾 Happy National Rescue Dog Day 🐾

Today, we’re celebrating every rescue dog who got a second chance—and every person who made that second chance possible.

The fosters who opened their homes.
The volunteers who gave their time.
The transporters who drove the miles.
The veterinarians who provided care.
The adopters who said, “Welcome home.”

And most importantly, the dogs themselves.

The ones who arrived scared, neglected, unwanted, or forgotten—and somehow still chose to trust again.

Every wag, every happy nub/tail, every “gotcha day” is proof that rescue changes lives. Not just theirs. Ours too. ❤️

Thank you for helping us continue giving these incredible dogs the futures they deserve.

Meet our newest girls: Zora & Loco 🖤

Two senior ladies who found themselves sitting in a shelter when they should’ve been curled up on couches, getting forehead kisses, and arguing over who gets the softest blanket.

But already… look at them now. 🥹

Zora immediately decided she knew her name, demanded kisses from everyone she met, and has already mastered the art of “I’m just a sweet old lady” manipulation.

And Loco? Our sensitive little soul who arrived scared, struggling, and unsure… is already decompressing, sleeping peacefully, learning routines, soaking up love, and finally starting to exhale.

These girls may have gray on their faces and some extra miles on the tires… but they still have so much love left to give. Senior dogs are special like that. They don’t ask for much — just safety, patience, soft food, comfy beds, and someone willing to love them through their golden years.

We are so incredibly grateful to their fosters for stepping up and showing these girls that the shelter was not the end of their story. 🫶

Welcome to the good life, ladies. You’re safe now.

Average Friday for Willow-pede 🐛

She has truly mastered doing the absolute most… and the least… all at the same time! ( , IYKYK 🫶🏼)

Meanwhile… this is the same girl who was just recently recovering from surgery.

Now she’s running, playing, and reminding us she’s still got a whole lot of life (and sass) left 🖤
