☀️ And just like that… summer flew by! ☀️

As we roll into September, we couldn’t resist looking back at just a few of the sweet faces who came through the doors of CROWN this summer. 🐾🦷💕

We are still in awe of just how many babies we had the privilege of meeting, loving, and helping. From tiny kittens and goofy puppies to our precious senior patients — every single one became a little part of the CROWN family. 👑

We are incredibly grateful to the families who trusted us with their pets and to the veterinarians who entrusted their patients to our care. Being able to relieve oral pain, restore comfortable mouths, and help pets get back to feeling like themselves is exactly why we do what we do.

Here’s to a summer full of healthier smiles, happier babies, lots of kisses… and probably more than a little fur on our scrubs. 😂💙

Thank you for trusting CROWN Veterinary Dental Specialists with the smiles you love most. 🦷👑🐾

And now… bring on fall! 🍂

If you see Dr. Duncan on Monday, be sure to congratulate her! 🎉

Dr. Duncan made a very quick trip to Kansas City this weekend to receive the 2026 dvm360 Veterinary Hero Award for Dentistry. Out of more than 600 nominations, she was one of only 14 honorees selected from across the United States!

The Veterinary Heroes program recognizes individuals whose leadership, expertise, compassion, and contributions are advancing veterinary medicine, improving patient care, and enriching the lives of animals and their families.

Dr. Duncan is incredibly grateful and humbled by this honor—but she shares it with the entire village that has stood beside her throughout her veterinary journey. In her eyes, they are all Veterinary Heroes. 💙

Has Dr. Duncan ever been a hero to you or your pet? We would be honored to hear your story—please share it in the comments so we can celebrate together! 🦷🐾

🦷 “But they’re still eating!” 🐾

We hear this all the time—and it’s completely understandable to assume that if your pet is eating normally, their mouth probably isn’t hurting.

Unfortunately, dogs and cats can be remarkably good at eating despite significant oral pain. Pets with fractured teeth, periodontal disease, tooth resorption, or even infection may continue eating their regular meals with surprisingly few obvious signs.

Instead, dental pain can show up in much subtler ways: chewing on one side, dropping food, eating more slowly, avoiding hard treats or toys, pawing at the mouth, increased drooling, bad breath—or sometimes no noticeable change at all.

That’s one reason a thorough oral examination and appropriate dental imaging can be so important. Much of a tooth—and many dental problems—can’t be fully evaluated just by looking in the mouth of an awake pet.

💜 Eating doesn’t always mean comfortable.

At CROWN Veterinary Dental Specialists, our goal is to help pets have mouths that are not only functional, but healthy and pain-free. 🐶🐱🦷

💛 If you've ever had a soulmate pet, you already understand. 💛

You know the one — the dog who knew your moods before you did. The one who sat with you through the hardest days, who made the good days even better, whose eyes always seemed to say "I've got you." That once-in-a-lifetime bond that changes you forever.
For Kayden, that soulmate is Brody. 🐾
Kayden is a veterinary assistant at Queen City Animal Hospital, and he spends his days helping other people's beloved pets feel safe, loved, and cared for. Now Brody — his heart dog — has been diagnosed with cancer, and the team at QCAH has rallied around him in the most beautiful way and set up a GoFundMe to help cover Brody's oncology care at CARE.

This is what our veterinary community does best. We show up. For the pets. For each other. For the people who pour so much of themselves into caring for animals every single day.

If you've ever loved a soulmate pet, please consider donating — even a few dollars helps. And if you can't donate, a share costs nothing and means everything. Let's surround Kayden and Brody with the same love they've given so freely. 🐶❤️

🌼 Monday Motivation from Scooter 🌼

Scooter understood the assignment… and chose violence 😼💥
(Post-op recheck toy = ✔️. Bunny kicks = aggressive. Vibes = unmatched.)

As he attacks his catnip daisy like it personally wronged him, let this be your reminder to head into this week with purpose, focus, and a little fire 🔥

Whether you’re tackling a big goal, a busy schedule, or just trying to stay on track—
👉 Show up
👉 Stay intentional
👉 And don’t be afraid to go all in (Scooter-style 😏)

Let’s make it a strong week! ❤️, CROWN 🦷🐾
