Dr. Richard Coe and Dr. Susan Coe, both graduates of Auburn University, established Animal Medical Hospital in 1983. After moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, they bought a 50-year-old home on Monroe Road and refurbished it as Animal Medical Hospital. By 1992, the practice had outgrown the space and it was replaced with a brand new facility at the same site. When the hospital moved into the new facility, it was awarded “Hospital of the Year” by Veterinary Economics magazine. The current setting comprises over 26,000 square feet spread over two floors. A large treatment area provides space for care and treatment for outpatient services. We have multiple examination rooms, an isolation ward, radiology room, and separate surgery and dental suites. Our spacious reception area includes a retail area where we offer veterinarian-recommended products. Our boarding facility, Camp AMH, provides a home away from home for your pets. Camp AMH includes separate rooms with hi definition TVs for our feline guests and a brand new indoor/outdoor play facility for our canine guests. Camp AMH is temperature controlled with a heating and air conditioning unit, ensuring that your pets stay at a comfortable temperature despite the weather outside. Our fully comprehensive hospital offers care for your pet every day of the year, 24 hours a day, even on holidays. We look forward to meeting you and your pet! As of June 2023, AMH has expanded even further to now offer internal medicine. We are excited to help our community and keep growing as a hospital.

Good nutrition is important, but how you store and handle your pet’s food matters, too! 🐾

A few simple habits can help keep mealtime safe:

✔️ Check expiration dates
✔️ Store food in a cool, dry place
✔️ Keep food containers clean and sealed
✔️ Wash your hands before and after handling pet food
✔️ Follow the feeding and storage instructions on the package
✔️ When in doubt about food that looks or smells unusual, don’t serve it

We’re proud to work with trusted veterinary nutrition brands like Hill’s and Royal Canin to help support the nutritional needs of our patients. ❤️

Have questions about your pet’s diet? Our veterinary team is always happy to help!

Today, we remember the pets who may no longer be by our side, but will forever be in our hearts. 🐾❤️

Our pets give us so much, companionship, comfort, laughter, and countless memories. When we lose them, their absence can leave an incredible emptiness.
On National Pet Memorial Day, we’re remembering the beloved pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge and the special place they continue to hold in our lives. 🌈

If you’d like, share your pet’s name or a favorite memory in the comments. ❤️

To everyone missing a beloved companion today, we’re thinking of you.

Today, we’re taking a moment to recognize something that matters deeply in veterinary medicine:

The people who care for your pets need care, too. ❤️
Veterinary medicine is incredibly rewarding, but it can also be emotionally demanding. Long hours, compassion fatigue, difficult conversations, financial pressures, grief, and burnout can take a toll.

A little kindness can go a long way. Be patient. Be compassionate. Check in on your veterinary team.

We’re proud to recognize organizations like Not One More Vet (NOMV) that work to support the mental health and well-being of veterinary professionals.
If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, call or text 988.

September is Happy Cat Month! 🐱❤️

What makes your cat happy?

A sunny window. A favorite toy. A cozy nap spot. Extra treats. Or maybe simply being left alone when they’ve decided they’re done socializing. 😂

This month, celebrate your feline friend by giving them a little extra love and making time for the things that make them happiest.

And remember, a happy cat is a healthy cat! Regular wellness visits can help keep your favorite feline feeling their best.

Tell us: What’s your cat’s favorite thing? 👇🐾
