💙 Pain Awareness Month Takeaways

Pets can’t tell us where it hurts—and many hide their discomfort. Changes in movement, appetite, grooming, sleep, or behavior may be important clues.

You know your pet best. If something doesn’t seem right, talk with your veterinary team.

🐾 Pain has a voice. Learn to listen.

🌎 World Rabies Day | September 28

Rabies is deadly—but it is also preventable. Keeping your pet’s rabies vaccination current protects more than just your pet. It helps protect your family, our community, and local wildlife.

🐾 Keep rabies vaccines up to date.
🐾 Avoid contact with stray or wild animals.
🐾 Report animal bites and seek care promptly.
🐾 Talk with your veterinarian if you’re unsure of your pet’s vaccination status.

Prevention starts with vaccination. Protect your pets. Protect your family. Protect our community. 💚

💙 PAIN CLUES | Quality of Life Check

Quality of life is about more than whether your pet is eating and drinking. Ask yourself:

🐾 Are they moving comfortably?
🥣 Are they eating normally?
😴 Are they resting comfortably?
❤️ Do they still enjoy being with the family?
🎾 Are they interested in their favorite activities?
🐱 Are they grooming normally?
📅 Are there more good days than difficult ones?

Small changes can be easy to miss. Paying attention to your pet’s comfort, behavior, mobility, and enjoyment of life can help you recognize when something isn’t right.

💙 Their comfort matters at every stage of life.

Today, we recognize Native American Day by honoring the history, cultures, traditions, and lasting contributions of Indigenous peoples and Tribal Nations across our country. 🍂

May today be an opportunity to learn, reflect, and celebrate the rich heritage that continues to shape our communities and our nation. 🪶❤️

When it comes to pain medication, what’s safe for you may NOT be safe for your pet.

Human medications—including common over-the-counter pain relievers—can cause serious or even life-threatening problems in dogs and cats.

🚫 Never give your pet human pain medication unless specifically directed by your veterinarian.

If you think your pet is hurting, give us a call. There are safe, veterinary-approved options available to help manage pain and keep them comfortable. 💙

When in doubt, ask your vet.

Someone came dressed to impress! 💕🐾

Meet Opal! 🌸

Opal recently stopped by Hickory Grove Animal Hospital, but we’re pretty sure her main reason for visiting was to show off this adorable little dress! 😂💗 And really… can you blame her?

She even gave us a little pose to make sure we got the full look. 📸

Let’s give Miss Opal some love! Drop a ❤️ in the comments if you think she absolutely nailed the outfit! 🐾🌸

Look at this distinguished gentleman! 🎩🐾

Meet Rufus! 💚

We recently had the pleasure of Rufus’ company at Hickory Grove Animal Hospital for his vaccine booster and prevention refill. And, of course, he made sure to look incredibly handsome for the occasion!

Keeping up with routine vaccines and monthly prevention is an important part of helping our pets stay protected and healthy year-round.

Thanks for visiting us, Rufus! It was a pleasure having such a distinguished gentleman in the hospital. 🐾🌿
