REHOMING NEEDED

Calling out all experienced dog lovers out there... we hate to be heavy on the sad posts this week, but this pup could use a hero. 🦸🐾

This is Wolfgang. His owner has significant medical issues and while he has been receiving treatment for the past couple months, Wolfgang has been boarding here with us. Unfortunately, his owner will not be strong enough to continue to care for Wolfgang. He has made the very selfless decision to rehome him. His close friends have reached out to numerous rescues on his behalf but have not had any luck. So we are putting his cute mug on social media in hopes he will find his superhero out there! 🥰

He is a 6.5 year old lab/retriever blend, neutered male. He is currently 50 pounds, but is on the leaner side. He is a sweet boy, but extremely fearful of the world around him. Because of this, we would not recommend he be rehomed to a house with young children. He loves meal time, and treats! He is housebroken, and doesn't have accidents. He has not shown any aggression towards other dogs, only curiosity, but has not been tested. He may benefit from a friendly and confident companion. Due to his fearfulness, we have not tested him on leash walks outside of the clinic. We do not know if he was receiving them at home.

He does chew bedding here, but we did not receive reports of him doing so in his own home. This may be due to boredom or anxiety of being in a kennel and away from his owner. We think he would thrive in a quiet home with someone with previous dog experience who could help him come out of his shell and build confidence :)

Meet Hank! Hank is a sweetie pie, but isn’t a fan of having services done. (We get it, Hank) He normally has to be sedated for anything more than general exams, but his mom had a great idea to bring his absolute OBSESSION- his Frosty Paws!

It worked 👏👏👏 and Hank let us complete all annual services without needing sedation. We have tried peanut butter and treats in the past, but I guess you can’t beat a Frosty Paw 🍦He did have calming medications on board, but we call it a major win. 🥇

Fear Free sometimes means revisiting protocols for certain patients, and working with the people that know them best, our pet parents!
