Meet Piper 🐾
At 7 years old, Piper recently underwent a dental procedure and needed multiple tooth extractions due to advanced dental disease. The teeth removed may look small, but the infection and discomfort they can cause are anything but.
🦷 Did you know?
By age 3, most dogs show signs of dental disease. Plaque and tartar build up below the gumline, leading to:
• Bad breath
• Red, inflamed gums
• Loose or infected teeth
• Pain while eating
• Tooth loss
• Bacteria that can affect the heart, liver, and kidneys
Many pets continue to eat and act normal despite significant oral pain, making dental disease easy to miss.
✨ Signs your dog may need a dental evaluation:
✔️ Bad breath
✔️ Yellow or brown tartar buildup
✔️ Dropping food while eating
✔️ Pawing at the mouth
✔️ Bleeding gums
✔️ Decreased interest in toys or chews
The good news? Dental disease is largely preventable with regular dental exams, professional cleanings, and at-home dental care.
Piper is now on the road to recovery and feeling much more comfortable. Sometimes losing a few teeth means gaining a much happier, healthier smile. 💙🐶
