Learned something new today. Dairy is a no-go for hedgies. All mammal pocket pets (that I know of) don't really tolerate dairy super well, but I didn't know it could be downright deadly for hedgies.

Today was amazing. With the generous aid of Fairytale Farm Rescue & Sanctuary , I had the privilege to donate a heaping load of veg & pellets to Guinea Pig Rescue of Asheville and Asheville Bouncing Bunny Rescue. GPRA even donated a whole bale of hay to ABBR! I love when rescues support each other.

The cherry on top was having the honor of making a vegan meal for the LOVELY folks at Sister Kitten , who have a pet supply distribution center set up in west Asheville to help residents with dog, cat, and other needs from food to litter to brushes and collars. Sister Kitten specializes in caring for community cats, TNR, and rescuing/rehabilitating feral kittens.


It completely brightened my day to see folks so excited simply to have things we take so easily for granted, like FRESH produce and REAL meals. To all of the animal heroes I met and corresponded with today, THANK YOU for the tireless and selfless work you do. You are appreciated!

If you buy corn and shuck it yourself please consider saving it and donating it to your local Guinea pig rescue they loveeeee it all even the silk , it is very high in fiber and helps file down their teeth ♥️😃

fairytalefarm.org has several ways to help, pinned right at the top of the page! Continued aid for all animals will be needed for weeks to come. We don't want to lose momentum. Please consider donating and/or sharing!

Fairytale Farm Rescue & Sanctuary has grouped together with several area rescues to help all sorts of animals in west NC and other areas devastated by Helene (or, now, in the path of Milton). The group has gotten a beautiful, HUGE outpouring from the public! Literal shipping trailers full of supplies. Daily trips. So much love.

I'm in contact with the team, trying to focus on small animals/exotics. The hardest things to find for rescues of these species are fresh vegetables. I'll be delivering coolers full of veg to 2 area rescues (Asheville Guinea Pig Rescue and Bouncing Bunny).
