Did you know Boykin Spaniels were bred to work all day in the field? Their intelligence, energy, and eagerness to please make them fantastic training partners, but they also need an outlet for that busy brain!

Training isn't just about teaching commands. For active breeds like the Boykin, training provides mental enrichment, builds confidence, and strengthens the bond between you and your pup!

Try teaching a new trick this week, practicing a "place" cue during dinner, or turning mealtime into a training session. Even 5-10 minutes of focused learning can make a huge difference in your dog's behavior and happiness.

"Stay” is more than just keeping your dog in one spot; it teaches patience, impulse control, and focus. 🐾

Start small:
✔️ Short duration
✔️ Low distractions
✔️ Reward often

Success comes from building confidence step by step.

Remember: breaking the stay just means the exercise was too hard, not that your dog is being “bad.” Training should feel like a win for both of you.

Frenchies may be known for their goofy personalities, but they LOVE learning when training is made fun and rewarding. Sam here is learning to wait at the door, recall, and to walk on a leash outside. 🐶

Look at Gigi on a socialization adventure through Lowe's! Nothing tests your "leave it" cue like an aisle full of garden hoses.

Loud sounds, forklifts, carts rolling by, strangers asking to say hi, it's basically a real-world training course wrapped in lumber and paint samples.

Puppy pens and crates are one of the most valuable training resources you can use. 🐾

A pen helps puppies learn boundaries, independence, and how to settle which are all essential skills for life in a human world. Instead of constant supervision or freedom they aren’t ready for, the pen gives them a structured space to practice calm behavior, play with appropriate toys, and rest.

Using a pen consistently also helps prevent unwanted habits like chewing, chasing, or getting into things they shouldn’t. Training isn’t just about teaching cues but about setting puppies up for success, and a puppy pen is a simple way to do exactly that.

Rainy + cold outside?

Perfect excuse for INDOOR enrichment! Keeping your dog mentally busy is just as important as physical exercise. Here are some easy ways to burn energy without stepping foot outdoors:

-Nose Work:
Scatter treats around the living room or hide them inside rolled-up towels. Let your dog use their nose!

-Training Time:
Practice sits, downs, stays, touches, or leash manners in the hallway. 5–10 minute sessions go a long way.

-DIY Busy Box:
Fill a cardboard box with crumpled paper, safe containers, toilet paper tubes, and sprinkle in kibble or treats. Instant sniff + shred fun!

-Puzzle Toys:
Pull out your treat puzzles, snuffle mats, or frozen Kongs. Let their brain do the work.

-Hide ’N’ Seek:
Hide behind a door or around a corner and call your dog. Great for recall, engagement, and confidence building.

Indoor enrichment prevents boredom, reduces unwanted behaviors, and builds confidence, especially during the next few cold months!
