‼️‼️‼️NC residents - this takes two minutes - please stand up for tethered dogs!‼️‼️‼️

Last month, a new House Bill was introduced in North Carolina which, if passed, would give lifesaving protection to dogs who are kept chained outside 24/7, exposed to extreme heat and freezing snow. This lifesaving bill is in critical need of your support to move it forward before the current session ends this Friday.

If passed, this bill would prohibit keeping dogs tethered outside when the temperature is above 85 degrees or below 32 degrees, as well as during hurricanes, tropical storms, and other dangerous weather conditions. There are so many chained dogs in North Carolina who need the vital protection of House Bill 1116 (the Fiona Mae Wagglebottom Act).

Show chained dogs they’re not alone by contacting the North Carolina Committee Senior Chairs today and urging them to support this bill! We hope for a future where no dog lives on a chain -- this legislation is a step in helping these dogs today.

Take Action: E-mail North Carolina House Appropriations Committee Senior Chairs
Dean Arp, Donny Lambeth, and Jason Saine before Friday:

As a resident of ______ County in NC, I'm reaching out today to urge you to support House Bill 1116 (Fiona Mae Wagglebottom's Act) to give lifesaving protection to dogs who are kept chained outside 24/7. If passed, HB 1116 would prohibit keeping dogs tethered outside when the temp is above 85 degrees or below 32 degrees as well as during other dangerous weather conditions.

I know firsthand the negative impacts that life on a chain has for dogs in our state. Chained dogs have frozen to death or died of heatstroke and this law could protect them from those terrible fates.

Please support House Bill 1116 (Fiona Mae Wagglebottom's Act) to give lifesaving protection to dogs who are kept chained outside 24/7, thank you.

In preparation for my maternity leave and taking steps to care my family, myself, and my baby some services & supports provided by United for Animals of Mecklenburg County will take a paused until June. U4A will still be providing monthly food, dog houses, and certain supplies to the community pets in need in the mean time. All builds, vet care, and intervention support will be paused.

If you or someone you know is experienced with animal welfare specifically what U4A encompasses and would like to help lead the program during my leave PLEASE reach out to me! This is a passion filled volunteer position.

I look forward to getting back in gear and getting U4A back on track come June providing vital services & supports to our community pets & humans in need. 💜🐶😺

Thank you SO much to our dedicated volunteers & donors! You all are what makes this program possible. I love you!
