Mother’s Day Announcement!! Gabby officially became part of the WAGS family this week 💛✨

Last Memorial Day weekend, Katie and Nick were paired with the sweetest little princess, Gabby, through foster care. After 5 longgg years of navigating the foster/adoption process, the ups and downs mentally, physically and emotionally, followed by a year of love & patience, Gabby officially became a Karavetsos this past Thursday.

Just in time for Katie’s very first OFFICIAL Mother’s Day 🥹 The best things truly are worth waiting for.

Happy Adoption Day to Gabby, & congratulations to Katie, Nick, Cocoa & Scarlett 🐾 Your forever was always meant to be 💛 We are overjoyed and send so much love to your family!

Spring has officially sprung in Charlestown 🌼💛 📸:

With the warmer weather finally here, we’re all spending more time outside soaking up the sunshine with our pups, just like our enjoying the dandelions ☀️🐾

It also feels like the perfect time for an important reminder to our loving community: please be compassionate and mindful of dogs who may need space. If you’ve never lived with a reactive dog, a dog with medical concerns, or a puppy actively in training, it can be hard to understand just how stressful off leash dogs with little to no recall can be, especially in a busy city environment.

This is also a great reminder about Project Yellow 💛
If you see a dog wearing yellow, it’s their way of asking for space. This can mean many things including:
✨ Reactivity or nervousness
✨ Medical concerns
✨ Recovery from injury or surgery
✨ A puppy learning the ropes
✨ A dog in training

As much as we all love seeing happy dogs enjoying spring, public off leash freedom should only happen if your dog has truly reliable recall. For everyone’s safety and comfort, if your dog does not have 100% recall, please keep them leashed in shared public spaces.

Interested in working toward safe off leash skills with your pup? We cannot recommend our favorite trainers enough! Check out the trainers highlighted on our Instagram page 🐶💛

Thank you for helping make Charlestown a safer, kinder place for all dogs and humans this spring 🌷🌷🌷

A message from Katie tonight! 🩷 I don’t even know where to begin… thank you doesn’t feel like a big enough phrase for the love you’ve all shown.

What you’ve done for Scarlett, and for my family, has touched my heart in a way I’ll never forget. In a world that can sometimes feel rushed and disconnected, you reminded us what true community looks like: people showing up, caring deeply, and lifting each other up without hesitation.

I’ve always tried to give back and help care for the dogs in this community because I believe every animal deserves love and safety. But to now be on the receiving end of that same kindness… it’s overwhelming in the most beautiful way.

You didn’t just help Scarlett, you gave our family comfort, hope, and a reminder that we’re never alone when we have people like you around us.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your generosity, your compassion, and your love. This is what community is all about, and I feel so lucky to be part of it! 🩷🐾🙏🏼

Give your dogs an extra hug tonight—they’re lucky to have you. And so am I.

Calling on our WAGS Family’s help this Friday morning! will NOT be pleased that I made a fundraiser, but I know our fam would love to help! (Link is in our bio 👆🏼)

If you’ve ever walked through our doors at WAGS Charlestown, chances are you know and love Katie. She has been a constant, caring presence in our community for over a decade, taking incredible care of so many of your pups like they were her own. Now it’s our turn to show up for her.

Last night, Katie’s beloved dog Scarlett had a severe reaction following her leptospirosis vaccine and was rushed to the emergency room. The veterinary team believes she went into anaphylactic shock. Scarlett spent the night in the ER and is currently fighting hard. She has experienced significant blood loss and has already required a plasma transfusion. At this time, her care is ongoing and the next steps are still uncertain, with the current bill already at $5,000. As you can imagine, this has been incredibly scary and overwhelming for Katie.

Katie has spent years showing up for this community with kindness, patience, and so much love for every dog she meets. She is the one who calms the nervous pups, celebrates the wiggly ones, and treats each dog like family. If you are able to donate, no amount is too small. Every contribution will go directly toward Scarlett’s emergency medical care and help ease the financial burden during this difficult time. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this page means just as much. Thank you for supporting one of our own. We are so grateful for this community.

With love,
The WAGS Charlestown Family
