Pet Helpers Adoption Shelter and Spay/Neuter Clinic

Pet Helpers Adoption Shelter and Spay/Neuter Clinic Pet Helpers is a forever shelter dedicated to finding forever homes for every adoptable animal. Make your appointment by calling (843) 302-0566.

Pet Helpers is a nonprofit 501(c)3 Rescue and Adoption Center that serves communities across the Lowcountry. Our mission is to end the euthanasia of all adoptable cats and dogs by keeping all animals until adopted; providing low cost spay/neuter surgeries; offering humane education programs; pursuing animal-cruelty prosecution; and initiating animal-welfare legislation. We also have a high quality

, low-cost Spay/Neuter Center that is open to the public. We offer vaccines, heartworm prevention/treatment, general surgeries, and routine medical care for your pet. Pet Helpers’ vision is to offer affordable, spay/neuter services and access basic wellness services to families across the Lowcountry. We offer these services to the general public but also focus aggressively on communities with high rates of animal reproduction and pets belonging to low-income populations. Increased accessibility to affordable spay neuter services and basic wellness care will reduce pet overpopulation and help to keep animals out of the shelter system.

Nobody tell this dog…

…that adoption fees for pets 4 months and older have been waived for Charleston County residents during Pick Me! SC thanks to a sponsorship from Charleston County.

Because if they find out, they’ll be waiting by the door all day expecting their family to walk in. 🥹❤️

The good news?

That family could be you.

Come meet hundreds of amazing dogs and cats looking for a fresh start and a place to call home.

Comment “PICK ME” if you’re rooting for this sweet pup to find a family.

POV: You’ve been waiting for your forever family… and today might be the day. 🥹❤️

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but…

Pick Me! SC starts TODAY.

For the next 10 days, shelters across South Carolina are joining forces with one big goal:

🏠 2,500 pets adopted.
❤️ 2,500 lives changed.
🐾 2,500 reasons to celebrate.

Here at Pet Helpers, 143 dogs and cats are hoping they’re part of that number.

Some have waited weeks.
Some have waited months.
All of them are wondering the same thing:

“Will someone pick me?”

And the timing couldn’t be better.

✨ During Pick Me! SC, Charleston County residents can bring home a pet 4 months and older with adoption fees 100% sponsored by Charleston County.
✨ Every pet is spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and ready to go home.
✨ All that’s missing is you.

Come meet your new best friend. We have a feeling they’re already waiting at the door.

Let’s settle a debate… 👇

What’s better?

A ) Having a dog 🐶
B ) Having a dog that thinks you’re the greatest thing on earth ❤️

Winter votes for B.

This sweet girl is absolutely obsessed with her people. Walks? She’s in. Cuddles? Absolutely. Being your sidekick for literally anything? Her favorite hobby.

The problem? Winter’s foster home is coming to an end, and she’ll soon have to return to the shelter.

While Winter adores people, shelter life is tough on her. Around lots of other dogs, she becomes nervous and shuts down. The happy, loving dog we know disappears behind kennel stress.

That’s why we’re searching for either a forever adopter or a long-term Adoption Ambassador Foster who can help keep Winter in a home environment while we work to find her perfect match.

✨ All supplies provided for foster homes
✨ Ongoing support from our team
✨ You help save Winter from returning to a stressful kennel environment

Think Winter might be your perfect match? Reach out to our Adoption Team today.

🚨 FOUND DOG ON JAMES ISLAND 🚨

A good Samaritan found this dog in Meridian place on James Island today and is hoping to quickly reunite them with their family. Female collar with no ID no chip.

📣 WE’RE HIRING… and yes, it involves animals. A lot of animals.

If your idea of a great workday includes:

* Being greeted like a celebrity by dogs who think you brought snacks (you didn’t… but they’ll check anyway)
* Helping cats judge your entire life choices from across the room
* And being part of a team that actually makes a difference

Pet Helpers is looking for new teammates!

We’re hiring for:

* Front Desk (aka: the “first impression + treat dispenser” role)
* Animal Care Technicians (aka: professional cleaners, feeders, snuggle providers)
* Shelter Vet Techs (aka: the real MVPs holding everything together)
* Management roles (aka: keeping the chaos beautifully organized)

This is not your average job. It’s loud, it’s rewarding, it’s emotional, it’s funny, it’s hard...and it matters.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to do something meaningful with your workday… this is it. 💕

Apply link is in the comments.

Come for the job. Stay because the animals decided you belong here. 🐶🐱

We wish finding the perfect dog was as simple as checking a few boxes.

✔ Housebroken
✔ Good with kids
✔ Good with dogs
✔ Good with cats

But dogs aren't boxes.

They're personalities, quirks, favorite toys, zoomies around the living room, and the way they greet you after a long day. They're individuals, and their stories are often much bigger than what can fit on a website profile.

That's why you may sometimes see our pets listed as "unknown" or notice they don't receive a "yes" for every category. In many cases, that doesn't mean the answer is "no" - it means we'd rather be honest than make promises we can't guarantee.

Many of our pets arrive as strays and we're often learning about them during their first few days in an entirely new environment.

The reality is that SHELTER life is very DIFFERENT from HOME life. Every family, routine, and environment is unique, and some things simply can't be known with complete certainty until a pet settles into a home.

That's why the best matches aren't made by website filters alone.

They're made through conversations, meet-and-greets, shared observations, and taking the time to understand what both a family and a pet need to succeed together.

Because a website can tell part of a dog's story.

But not all of it.

❤️ Meet the dog. Not the checked box.
