These dogs may not know that summer is coming to an end… but they DO know how to make the most of a beautiful day. 🐾

We’re closed to the public for Labor Day! 🇺🇸

Our staff is still here all day caring for the animals, we’re just taking a little holiday break from visitors.

But there’s still plenty you can do from home:

HAVE YOU EVER HAD PHYSICAL THERAPY?
Then you already know… nobody actually enjoys PT. 😂

Now imagine being a tiny dog who needs it—and having to do it from a kennel.

Meet Rex and Josie. Two of the sweetest little pups you’ll ever meet, and two very special dogs who need a little extra help getting back on their feet.

Both have injured legs that need some physical therapy and strengthening before they can be cleared for adoption. What they really need is a foster home where they can practice using that leg throughout the day—with supportive walks, backyard adventures and different types of terrain to help those muscles get stronger.

And before you panic at the words physical therapy… you are NOT expected to be a canine PT expert. Our team will show you exactly what they need and be there to guide you along the way. ❤️

The hardest part? Giving them the opportunity to heal.

The best part? Watching them get stronger every day—and knowing you helped get them one step closer to the forever home they’re waiting for.

Because Rex and Josie shouldn’t have to spend another day waiting to start healing.

We’re looking for two very special foster homes. Ideally, they’d be the only pet in the home so recovery can be their full-time focus without the temptation to turn PT into a wrestling match. 😉

We hit 100.

And while that might sound like a milestone, it’s one number we really want to bring back down.

More than 100 dogs are waiting for homes at Pet Helpers, our kennels are full, and next weekend we’re making some much-needed improvements to our existing kennels.

So we have a plan:

We’re sending some dogs on vacation.

Our Home for the Weekend initiative is happening September 10–13, and we’re looking for local dog lovers willing to open their homes to a shelter dog for a few days.

A couch. A backyard. A little adventure. A few belly rubs.

That’s all it takes to give a dog a break from kennel life AND help us create the space we need while the kennel improvements are underway.

Pet Helpers provides the supplies and support. You provide the temporary vacation home.

And who knows… your weekend guest might decide they’d rather stay. 😉

🚨 BRIE IS HAVING AN IDENTITY CRISIS. 🚨

When Brie first arrived at Pet Helpers as a stray, you all took one look at her face and collectively declared:

“GOLDEN RETRIEVER.” 😂

And honestly? We understand. Look at that face!

And honestly? We understood. That face was making a pretty compelling case.

But then we started looking at the rest of her…

Double dew claws? ✔️
Long, curled, fluffy tail? ✔️
Overall fluff? ✔️
Great Pyrenees-like vibe? ✔️✔️✔️

The evidence was piling up.

So after a little investigation, we’re thinking Brie is actually a Great Pyrenees mix.

And then… something strange happened.

The crowd that had been clamoring for this adorable girl suddenly got a little quieter. 👀

EXCUSE US?!

Did Brie change? Nope.
Did her sweet face change? Nope.
Did she stop being an adorable, approximately 6-month-old puppy? Absolutely not.

She’s still the same ridiculously sweet girl you fell for a few days ago. She just had a little plot twist in her family tree.

Golden? Pyrenees? Mystery mix?

Who cares?! Look at that face. Look at that fluff. Look at that TAIL.

Brie doesn’t need an identity crisis.

She needs her people. ❤️

So let’s get this girl adopted ASAP.

Come meet Brie. We have a feeling you’ll forget all about the breed label the second she looks at you.

And if you’re Team Golden Retriever, we have a feeling Brie is still willing to let you join her fan club. 🐾

A little pinch now. A whole lot of peace of mind later. 💉🐾

Monday started like any other day at the shelter.

Then, 23 cats arrived to Pet Helpers after Animal Control removed them from a hoarding situation.

23 cats who, until yesterday, knew a very different kind of life.

Now they have soft beds. Fresh food and water. Clean litter boxes. Veterinary care. Quiet places to decompress. And, perhaps most importantly, a little time to learn that they are safe.

While their arrival was unexpected, caring for them is now simply part of the day.

Because shelter life is more than the animals you see waiting for adoption. It’s the intake that happens behind the scenes. The medical care. The cleaning. The feeding. The behavior assessments. The countless bowls filled, beds changed and moments of reassurance that happen every single day.

And sometimes, it’s opening the door because 23 cats suddenly need somewhere to go.

For these cats, Monday changed everything.
