Our goal for the dogs in our care is to create an environment that closely mirrors their existence in the natural world. Exercise, stimulation, socialization and the freedom to play are paramount to making dogs happy. The canine brain is ill-equipped for two states of being: being alone and being confined. Many behavior issues can spring from an overall lack of stimulation and exercise or a lack o

f socialization. Nothing benefits a dog more than the opportunity to play and socialize freely with other balanced, healthy dogs. And at the end of the day, they sleep like babies. Our boarding options include small, medium and Extra Large indoor-outdoor runs. During the day, all of our sleepover guests enjoy access to our doggie daycare program, which includes outdoor group play, the establishment of good manners, enrichment toys and homemade treats. We have four large yards for our furry friends to expel every ounce of energy before they come inside to rest comfortably in our climate controlled runs. Sometimes, when we play hard, we get dirty. We offer all-natural baths and coat de-shedding. We support the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation. Charlie Freeman, the leader of our pack, is one of two canine recruiters for the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation in the nation. The NDSDF produces the majority of the FEMA certified "Live Recovery" Rapid Response Disaster Teams. These are the most highly trained search and rescue dogs in the world. Every time there is a tsunami, an earthquake or a Katrina or 9/11-type event, these are the dogs and handlers that get deployed. Charlie helps by scouring the shelters in the region for that one in a million canine recruit. All of the dogs at the NDSDF come out of shelters. It's an amazing process.

Researchers have been exploring the genetic origins of the Scandinavian grey wolf population, which was founded by only three immigrating wolves. The scientists show that, after five generations of inbreeding, between 10 and 25 per cent of the original genetic variation has been eliminated.
