๐พ๐บ๐ธ July 4th Pet Safety Reminder ๐พ๐บ๐ธ
If your pet needs medication for the holiday weekend, please contact us before July 1st to ensure we have enough time to prepare your prescription. All medications must be picked up by July 2nd.
๐
Holiday Hours
Our office will be closed July 3rd, 4th, and 5th in observance of Independence Day.
โฐ We will reopen on Monday, July 6th at 7:30 AM.
๐ While fireworks, barbecues, picnics, and celebrations are fun for people, they can be stressfulโand sometimes dangerousโfor our furry friends. Loud noises can cause pets to panic and run away, while holiday foods, hot weather, and fireworks debris can create serious health and safety risks.
๐ถ๐ฑ Prepare Before the Holiday
โ
Make sure your pet's ID tags and contact information are current.
โ
Verify that your pet's microchip information is up to date.
โ
Take a recent photo of your pet in case they become lost.
โ
If your pet is anxious during fireworks, speak with us about possible calming strategies or medications.
โ
Check fences, gates, and outdoor enclosures to ensure they are secure.
๐ During the Celebrations
๐ Keep pets safely indoors during fireworks and festivities.
๐ซ Leave pets at home when attending parades, parties, and fireworks displays.
๐๏ธ Create a quiet, secure room or crate where your pet can feel safe.
๐ด Keep horses and livestock in secure areas away from loud noises.
๐ช Remind guests to be careful when opening doors and gates.
โจ Keep fireworks, sparklers, glow sticks, charcoal, and skewers out of reach.
๐ Avoid feeding table scraps, as many holiday foods can be harmful to pets.
๐ง Provide plenty of fresh water and shade, and limit outdoor time during extreme heat.
๐ Never leave your pet unattended in a vehicle, even for a short time.
โ๏ธ Traveling? Consider a trusted pet sitter or boarding facility if bringing your pet isn't necessary.
๐งน After the Fireworks
๐ Inspect your yard for fireworks debris before letting pets outside.
๐ด Check pastures and outdoor areas for debris that could harm horses or livestock.
๐ Remove leftover food, skewers, and trash that curious pets may try to eat.
๐พ A little preparation can go a long way in keeping your pets safe, comfortable, and stress-free this Independence Day. If you have any questions about anxiety management or medication refills, please contact us before July 1st.
โค๏ธ Wishing you and your pets a safe and happy Fourth of July!
