The 3 rules of the Green Heart Project are: Respect Yourself, Respect the Earth, & Respect your Buddy. Educational school micro-farms.

Rooting for our students is the best part of what we do! 💚🌱

Our Green Heart students and buddies got their hands dirty in the garden last week! Nothing beats the joy of pulling a bright, fresh radish straight from the soil.

Small seeds, deep roots, big impact. We’re so proud of these young growers!

We need your help! 🌶️💚

Lewis BBQ is back at Pacific Box & Crate for the Hatch Chile Roast on Sunday, October 4th, and Green Heart volunteers make it happen.

Two shifts, tons of ways to pitch in, and all proceeds support The Green Heart Project.

Sign up at the link in our bio, and thank you if you’re already on the list!

🌱 This week in our Farm to School program, students explored “Respect Yourself” in the kitchen! Working with their buddies, they mashed and mixed their own chickpea salad, practiced the “bear claw” knife technique to cut veggies and bread safely, and added fresh herbs for flavor. Then came the best part - building their own sandwiches and taste-testing their creations. And we always remind the students, “don’t yuck someone else’s yum”!

Beyond the cooking skills, kids swapped food stories and memories with their buddies because respecting yourself means nourishing your body AND connecting with your community. 💚

We’re thrilled to welcome our newest Garden Educator, Lilli Paige! 💚

With a background in environmental studies and a concentration in environmental education focused on permaculture, Lilli Paige is one of our dedicated Garden Educators. Before joining us, Lilli Paige worked as an environmental educator with Coastal Expeditions and as a garden educator at Naples Botanical Garden. She has a passion for teaching others about the wonders of plants and how they can inspire us, and she’s thrilled to finally combine her plant-focused lifestyle (and love!) with her career, surrounded by people who share her enthusiasm. Lilli Paige spends her free time tapping into her creative side through gardening, printmaking, and cross-stitching, along with thrifting and exploring fashion. She also keeps 3 fish tanks at home, including one semi-aquatic tank that she built herself!

If you spot her out in the gardens, say hi! We’re sure she’ll have a fun, plant-inspired fact to share with you! 🌿
