Our team in the initial tear-down stages of in-vessel engine overhauls aboard the 63' Bertram BARACOA. She's powered with C32 Heui's rated 1650hp@2300rpm, 2060A gears & (2) 20kw Kohler/Rehlko generators.

Recent repairs to this 3412C 3JK - 1350hp. Complaint: Engine rpm revving up on it's own, and she tried to "run away" several times.
Once onboard we discovered "Active" Throttle Position out of calibration & Rack Sensor voltage high faults present, also numerous Engine Overspeed Warning - Event Codes. 👀 If that doesn't get your attention.

We ended up replacing the faulty Throttle Position Sensor aka "beer can". Disassembled the shut-off housing & inspected. Replaced the rack sensor inside the fuel injection pump & recalibrated. Also, installed a new BTM for the rack servo control.
She started and run great afterwards with no further issues.
