Hey, just a little business update for you.
For the past five years, I've really tried to be super flexible with cancellations. I get it, life happens, plans change, trips get canceled, and sometimes things are just totally out of your hands.
But, unfortunately, I'm realizing that the flexibility and kindness I've tried to show haven't always been met with the same consideration back. When I approve a booking, I'm setting that time aside just for you, and sometimes I even turn down other requests because I'm already booked.
I don't want a few situations to change how I treat everyone, but I'm learning that being flexible still needs some boundaries, or I end up getting taken advantage of.
Because of this, I'm going to be putting a stricter cancellation policy in place. This will mostly apply to Drop-In Visits. Recurring Visits will have their own cancellation policy since they're scheduled differently.
Ultimutt Pet Sitters is only five years old, and I'm still learning and adjusting things as the business grows. I'm also working on bringing on some extra help, so having clearer policies will become even more important since I'll be responsible for someone else's schedule too.
Sometimes you don't realize you need a policy until something happens and you're like, "Well... I guess I need a policy for that now."
I'll send all the actual details through Time To Pet once everything is finalized. Thanks for bearing with me as Ultimutt Pet Sitters Keeps growing and, as always, for trusting me with your pets!
