We are swimming in fabulous felines! They're fuzzy and adorable. They need good homes. We are offering REDUCED ADOPTION FEES FOR ALL ADOPTABLE CATS starting today (6/12/26) and running through the end of July 2026.
Here's a breakdown of the current adoption specials for cats:
🐱Single Cat Adoptions:
All cats & kittens are only $75 until July 31, 2026.
🐱🐱 Double the Love - Cat Pair Specials:
Kitten Pair Special: Take home two kittens for only $130
Adult Cat Pair Special (4 months or older): Take home two older cats for only $110

We're not crying. You're crying! What a sweet adoption update!😍
"I wanted to share my lovely experience so far with my precious dog, Bodhi, (formally Prancer). I am so grateful that I get to love and care for him every day. He has truly become my world.
Since bringing Bodhi home, we have been on so many adventures! We live in Wilmington, so I slowly introduced him to the ocean, and now he has become the perfect beach buddy. Watching his confidence and excitement grow makes me the happiest dog mom. He has truly settled in my home and is completely comfortable in a place he can now call his own.
Thank you for being such an incredible shelter! Everyone was amazing during the whole adoption process and made it such a positive experience. Bodhi is the 3rd dog our family has adopted from the Orange County Shelter, and each one has brought incredible joy in our lives. Bodhi and I come to Chapel Hill a lot to visit his sisters. We love and cherish our dogs with every moment we spend with them. "

Monte is still waiting to find his family. He is the BESTEST boy. Check out these insights from his recent short-term foster adventure away from the shelter:
"Monte is truly a ray of sunshine! He makes every person (or dog) he comes into contact with feel so loved. Monte does well in the car and can be left alone and uncrated for a couple of hours without accidents. He walks well on the leash, only pulling when he wants to meet a new friend but can be redirected! Speaking of, Monte is great at making other doggie friends! He got along with our neighbor’s dog splendidly and they ended up having nightly play dates. Monte was my shadow for the week and always made me feel so loved, whether that be by squirming under the covers at night or his wiggles when I got home from work. Anyone would be lucky to have Monte as a family member!! My favorite thing about Monte is how much love he has to give! It’s so evident that he adores his people with his whole heart. He would be an incredible addition to any family."

Cinnamon has already had an extraordinary journey at such a young age. She apparently fell off of a transport truck here in NC before ending up at our shelter. She needed special medical care. Thankfully, Farm Animal Refuge agreed to take her - and she needed to get to Tennessee for special care before she could make her way to them in California. We are so grateful for the volunteer that drove her to TN, and to all the other amazing people willing to go above and beyond to help her. We are pulling for her to continue fighting and recovering. Go Cinnamon! 🥰

Our sweet boy, Gunther, enjoyed a Dog Day Out, and he proved to be a total rockstar on the trails. He loved walking, sniffing, and exploring along Bolin Creek. He even loved splashing through the water on his leash! He absolutely thrives on praise and affection. Bicycles zoomed right past him, and he did not mind them at all. He started off with high energy but settled down beautifully for a calm ride home once he burned off some steam.
Meet Gunther and see that incredible smile in person! Important note - he is big with lots of energy, and he's been a little "too much" around small children at times. So, he may do best in a home without small children or small pets. And of course proper, slow introductions are always needed to any larger dogs in a new home.

Little Man is still waiting for his permanent home, and his foster has such wonderful things to say about him!..
"We have seen such a difference in Little Man in the time we’ve had him away from the shelter. He is so sweet and cuddly! He loves to be outside and roll around in the grass, he loves to play with toys and run around with us! He does very well taking baths and being put in his crate! I’ve never heard him bark in the time we’ve had him. He absolutely loves other dogs and is so gentle with them. He is so silly and just wants to be loved. He often will lay his chin on my chest and fall asleep, lol. He is also very good at learning new tricks! We taught him 'paw' in one day! He’s such a smart little man."
