Information Wednesday: Knowledge that keeps you one step ahead. 🦠

This week is over Distemper! Puppies and dogs are often most likely to become infected through exposure to the virus from an infected dog or wild animal. This can happen through sneezing, coughing, or shared water bowls or other items. Once a dog becomes infected dogs will shed the virus through body fluids like respiratory droplets, salivating, or urine.

The best way to prevent distemper is through vaccination done by your veterinarian. Distemper is considered a “core” vaccine and is recommended for all dogs!

Contact our office if you have any questions or want to schedule an appointment🐾🤎

BACK AGAINNNN… with another Information Wednesday: keeping our pet parents one step ahead!✨✨

This week we’re talking about Leptospirosis 💧🐾

Leptospirosis (Lepto) is a bacterial infection that pets can pick up from contaminated water outdoors. Lepto is very serious because it is a zoonotic disease, meaning it can spread to humans too — definitely no fun 👎🏽

BUT, we’ve got you covered! ✨

According to the American Animal Hospital Association, the Lepto vaccine is considered a core vaccine for all dogs to help keep them protected. 🐶💉

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out! 🐾

We love keeping our clients one step ahead of the game! 🐾

This week is over Blastomycosis, also known as “Blasto.”Blasto is a fungal infection pets can develop after inhaling fungal spores found outside in soil and wooded areas.

While there is currently no vaccines or prevention for Blasto, there are treatment options and medications available that can help affected pets. Blasto can also be called the “great pretender” because sometimes the clinic signs are not textbook.

If you have any questions or feel like your pet isn’t acting like their usual self, please make an appointment so we can help them get back to feeling their best🐾🐱🐶

Guess what day it is…. Information Wednesday! ✨

This weeks topic is Heartworms🪱 There are many myths out there- we’re here to share the facts! Heartworm disease is a year-round risk and can lead to serious health issues. These parasites live in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels, causing severe lung disease, heart failure and damage to other organs.

According to the American Heartworm Society Canine Heartworm Guidelines “ It is possible for an animal to become infected while appropriately dosed or because of skipped or delayed administration of just one preventative dose.”

We promise we’re not being nosy when we ask about if your pet is on heartworm prevention-we’re just doing our job to keep your pet healthy, happy, and Heartworm free❤️ If you have any questions about prevention or getting a Heartworm test please call our office, we would love to get you set up! 🐾

Our goal is to set our clients up for success as confident, informed pet parents!

If you feel like you may be noticing any of these changes in your cat. Please don’t hesitate to reach out. Our office number is 931-364-2305
