Check Out The Lunar Eclipse! If you're awake, you might want to stick your head outside and look at the moon. We are having a lunar eclipse tonight and it's already begun. There is a little cloud cover, but it's still mostly visible. It's supposed to peak at 96% coverage around midnight. I hope the clouds keep cooperating!

This is what walking a well-trained dog through the food court at the DBAP during a rain delay looks like. Lucky was doing such a good job staying at my side under such difficult circumstances that I videotaped a little bit of our walk. This was a great dog!

The Day Cokie Roberts Visited Our Kennel

Fifteen years ago I was giving a lesson to one of my clients. His mother was visiting, and he brought her along for that lesson.

Much to my surprise, his mother was Cokie Roberts — the longtime journalist and political commentator for NPR, ABC News, and PBS. She spent decades covering Washington, won multiple Emmys and a Peabody, and wrote several bestselling books. She passed away in 2019.

I really enjoyed meeting her. She was warm and easy to talk to, and even agreed to help me create a gift for my wife by posing with my wife's dog, Henri. These are the pictures we made that day.

Lastly, guess who the son was in this story? His name is Lee Roberts. He's the current Chancellor at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. I don't really know him, but I remember he was a great customer.

Poppy is the second Great Pyrenees mix I've had in the last month. This six-month-old pup came in for training last week, and she's really enjoying it! Her owner was missing her, so we spent a couple minutes making this video for her. She loved it, and we hope you do too!

Off Leash Obedience In Two Days?

The dog getting into the run on her own is a five-month-old Catahoula mix named Tilly. She came in for training on Thursday morning and this video was taken first thing on Saturday morning. This was her third "lesson" going into her run without being leashed. I've got two more videos of me teaching her to do this that I'll share with you soon. She's come a long way in 48 hours!

This article was published on July 25, 2005. That was 21 years ago today! Back then we were performing at the ballpark four nights a week, and I was running my dog training business. It was fun, but tremendously demanding. Life is much easier now!

22 Years Ago Today — In 2004 I had these two dogs. Scott, on the left, was my last German Shepherd from my time as a breeder. He was my stud dog and a magnificent companion. Lucky, the Labrador on the right, was the first of my dogs to work as a mascot for the Durham Bulls. I really enjoyed living with these guys!

14 Years Ago Today — Lucky Jr. posing with young fans at a Bulls game. I like both of these pictures. But, the one with the toddler has always been one of my favorite ballpark pics.
