Hello friends, I wanted to share some pictures of how well Ms. Irena is doing. She’s looking sleek and lovely. I still haven’t been able to wash her face very well, so her face still looks dirty, but her skin condition is almost all the way cleared up and she’s really showing the benefits of some good groceries and a lot of love.

Beautiful moonlit evening with Irena, she is doing so well! Sometimes I ask myself is this the same horse from six weeks ago—I can’t wait to see where she is six weeks from now with lots of love good groceries, peace, tranquility and kindness. I really feel blessed and happy that I have been able to help save this amazing horse. 🐴💙🌕

Thinking about Irena this morning. She has been in my life for almost 30 days.Best news the horrible sticky Feedlot tag fell off of her mane, made me so happy. She’s doing a lot better but still has a long way to go. I wrote a Long update in her GoFundMe page. I will include the link here https://gofund.me/4e7058542 if anyone is interested in reading more details about her and her journey but I am considering taking down the GoFundMe and transferring her story to a YouTube page but I feel like I need to get better at making videos first. I’m just feeling really blessed that she’s in my life. I can definitely see some wonderful changes.

I was responding to Elaine's comment and I wanted to share the comment with all of you all here. I invite all of you to share in your stories and tell us what’s happening now and your involvement with Horses or when you were involved with Horses. I feel like it’s an open invite to all of you to share in your stories and tell us what’s happening now and you’re involvement with horses or when you were involved with horses or farm life. I feel like it’s a big extended family in a way and I just want to relay to you all that when my mom was sick one thing that she wanted to feel reassured of in the end of her life was that she had made a difference in peoples lives, and I truly believe she did, she made a beautifully lasting impact on people's lives with her wonderful generosity of spirit, her over the top Christmas cookie extravaganzas, to moonlight hayrides, to cross country rides, swimming across the Potomac River on horseback-- letting people be free to explore and love horses and open spaces the way she did-- with abundance! To me this site just reinforces that every time I hear one of your fantastic stories and how you have a farm now or had horses, a 501c3 horse rescue, had a therapeutic riding school, or you became an amazing hunter jumper show rider-- all these stories, these memories-- this is the fabric of our beautiful lives and now they’re woven together. Hugs to all of you! Jackie's daughter, Lorelei

I couldn’t believe my own eyes yesterday when I went out to see Irena, I noticed her hair is growing back!! The picture here is of her rough side that just two weeks had huge patches of hair loss and now it looks like there’s some black fuzz! I’m so pleased about it and happy for Irena! Still a long journey ahead with a very reactive mare who has been through a lot, If only I could read the sad story in her eyes and know what happened to her, but it’s in the past now… What I do know for sure is these last two weeks have really started to turn things around for this lovely horse. She’s really beautiful!💜🐴💙

Even though this is a fan page for my mom's farm and riding school Potomac Equitation, I want to share with you my continuing journey with horses because I am still a horse lover after all these years!!!

Hi friends, We decided to name the rescue mare a beautiful Slavic name that’s much revered that means peace… So without further ado… Her new name is Irena! 🐴💜
I’m attaching some pictures of her good side so you can see just how pretty she is. She still needs a bath still working on getting her haltered, I love her already! Her skin condition is mostly on her left side. A couple of the pictures are in the sunshine and shows her beautiful color.💚🌷

Hi everyone, I started a GoFundMe page for the Percheron mare. I felt a little embarrassed about doing it, but then I felt like it was OK to reach out for help and if people wanted to donate they could bit they didn’t have to or feel pressure to, but maybe people know people who might want to donate. ☺️Anyway. One thing I am doing on the GoFundMe is tracking her story in detail with daily updates. 💚🐴💙

I recently helped to rescue a 16-year-old Percheron draft horse mare named Suzie, who was on the brink of being sent to slaughter after a life of hardship and neglect. She was used as a plow horse and broodmare until she was discarded, and her sad eyes haunted me. I couldn’t stop thinking about her, so I arranged for her to be transported to New Mexico. Unfortunately, her journey was stressful, and she arrived with a painful skin condition, an eye infection, and several cuts and scrapes, one on her forehead, that need urgent medical attention. She’s scared, not mean, and I want to give her the peace and care she deserves. I’ve covered her rescue and transport, but the veterinary costs are overwhelming. This is hard for me but I humbly ask, if you are able and so moved, for any donations to Suzie‘s GoFundMe account to help with her medical Care. Every little bit counts toward her recovery and a better life. Thank you for being part of her second chance. (some pictures are graphic, so please be advised)

I found a three saddle wooden saddle rack at an estate sale for four dollars. I’m so thrilled! The left saddle is my newer English saddle. The one in the middle is from at 30 plus years ago and the one on the far right is a smaller teenage rider English Steuben saddle.

I remember the story my mother told when she started Potomac equitation she said she started the riding school with two English saddles and $400!! At one point, Potomac equitation had 70 horses on the 160 acre farm on Pleasant Valley Road!
