Thanks to the generosity of a dedicated donor, we are proud to spotlight Missy! We’re so grateful for this donor’s continued support of our mission to give pets at Fairfax County Animal Services the care and visibility they deserve. This spotlight is especially meaningful because we helped fund a lifesaving medical procedure for Missy, giving her the chance to thrive and find the loving home she’s been waiting for. Now, let us introduce you to this very special pet!
Missy is a 7-year-old white-and-tan sweetheart with a friendly personality, a playful spirit, and plenty of love to give. During her time at the shelter, she has been an absolute joy to be around. She loves spending time with people — whether that means heading out for a walk, enjoying a favorite toy, or curling up for cuddles and head scratches. With her wonderful mix of affection and fun, Missy would make a loyal companion for someone looking for both cozy moments and lighthearted adventures. Missy would do best as the only dog in the home, where she can soak up all the love and attention she deserves. If you’re searching for a sweet, affectionate dog with a bright spirit and an even brighter future, Missy might be your perfect match!

Thank you, ProPet Boutique Pet Services Herndon, Virginia for shining a light on Marley A-60244526 and supporting the mission of Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. FYI – Second spotlight for Marley! Second could be the charm – share, share, share!

At 12 years old, Marley proves that a gray muzzle only means more love to share. This 68-pound sweetheart may need a little time to warm up and does best with calm, respectful introductions. Once he feels safe, his personality shines. Marley still loves to play, especially a good game of fetch. Between playtime, he’s a gentle, affectionate companion with a calm presence and the occasional burst of excitement that shows he’s still young at heart. He’s growing more confident each day, showing friendly body language with trusted people and becoming easier to walk and handle. Marley enjoys exploring at his own pace and benefits from patience as he adjusts to new situations. He is interested in other dogs but may be unsure at first, so slow, thoughtful introductions are important. Any potential canine housemates should meet him to make sure it’s a good fit. Marley’s story is one of quiet resilience, growing trust, and sweet companionship. If you know that the best bonds take time, Marley could be the perfect match for you.
She’s ready for a loving home and is part of FFCAS senior pet adoption program. That means she receives a $500 credit to PENDER VETERINARY PRACTICE and her adoption fee is waived.

Thank you ProPet Boutique Pet Services Herndon, Virginia for shining a light on Jo-Jo, A-60806475 and supporting the mission of the Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.

Jo-Jo may play it cool at first but give him a little time and you’ll see this sweet senior start to shine. He’s the kind of guy who enjoys a calm, cozy vibe while he gets comfortable, and once he does, he’s all about gentle pets and quiet companionship. Bonus: Jo-Jo previously lived with his canine sister, Diamond, and did great with her! If you already have a pup at home, bring them by for a meet and greet to see if it’s a match. Jo-Jo is ready to spend his golden years soaking up love, comfort, and maybe a little well-earned spoiling. Think he could be your new best buddy? Come meet Jo-Jo today!

This is the second spotlight for Big Midnight! A good source told us that he has a fan club! So we want to thank Laura, Self-Appointed President of the Big Midnight Fan Club on shining a second light on this special pup as well as supporting our mission!

Meet Big Midnight—a friendly, energetic 83 lb. dog who loves affection and socializing. He thrives with an active family and needs regular exercise, a confident handler, and patience due to handling sensitivity and leash reactivity. Because of his size, homes with children under 12 aren't recommended. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion, come meet Big Midnight—he's eligible for an Adoption Audition! What is an Adoption Audition? It’s a 5-day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period.

For information about Big Midnight, please visit https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/animalservices/adopt.

Thanks Cafe Kindred for shining a light on Jackson and supporting our mission!

At 6 years old and 118 pounds, Jackson is a lovable gentle giant who walks well on leash. At the shelter, he has done well meeting other dogs and may enjoy a home with another dog; if you already have one, bring them to meet him. While he has not lived with children, he has enjoyed attention from kids in the past. Jackson has hypothyroidism, so he will need daily medication and future bloodwork. If you have room for a sweet, gentle big boy, come meet Jackson!
