VETERINARY OUTPATIENT SURGICAL CENTER (VOSC) and SULLY ANIMAL HOSPITAL

We use compassion and care with every surgery that we undertake. Every member on our team understands that our pets are some of the most precious beings to all us owners. Because of this we treat every pet as if it was our own and with love and attention. We offer a wide variety of cost effective soft-tissue and orthopedic sur

geries including but not limited to ACL Repairs, Amputations, Foreign Body Removals, Cystotomies, Mass Removals, Hernia Repairs, Mastectomies, Pyometras, Fracture Repairs, Luxating Patella, TECA, Hematoma Repair, Cherry Eye Repair, Exploratories, Dental Cleanings, Spay/Neuters, and more! To facilitate our values of love, kindness, and compassion we use state of the art technology and fully-equipped surgical suites to care for and monitor your pet when they undergo any anesthetic procedure. This includes our 7-point-parameter monitoring system that tracks your pet's heart rate, respiration, oxygen saturation level, CO2, blood pressure, temperature, and the amount of anesthetic in their system. This is observed and charted down by our anesthetic nurse from start to finish to insure consistency. As an AAHA accredited hospital we also follow all of their guidelines for anesthesia and monitoring in dogs and cats. We understand that the idea of surgery can be nerve-racking to most pet owners. Because of this, we strive to be very transparent with all of our "day-of" surgical protocols. To start, we require most, if not all, of our surgery/dental prospects to attend a consultation before the surgery date. This is to give our doctors a chance to meet you and your pet so we can develop a personalized treatment plan for all your pets needs before undergoing any anesthetic. All of our surgical patients are to be brought into the facility in the morning. This is to ensure that our technicians have a proper amount of time to prepare every pet before they undergo anesthesia. Unlike other hospitals, we will place an IV catheter for every surgery we perform. The IV catheter is an important access point not only for intravenous fluids, but also for pain medications, antibiotics, anesthetics, and emergency drugs. Our doctors require pre-operative blood work for all of our surgeries since it ensures your pet's safety and reduces the chances of an anesthetic death. For geriatric or ill pets, additional blood tests, electrocardiograms, or x-rays may be required before surgery as well. We offer a variety of pain solutions for our patients as well, including laser therapy, Cerenia Injections, and personalized medications or prescriptions for managing pain at home. Our surgeons are experienced and with help from our amazing owners we have a great track record for post-op recovery. Most surgeries will go home the same day in the afternoon. Discharge time is individualized for each patient to make sure that they have enough time to wake up from their anesthetic safely. A member of our surgical team will contact you after your pet is finished to discuss discharge instructions and give you your pets pick up time. You will be provided detailed discharge instructions for follow up care when you pick up your pet. In the days following surgery a team member will contact you to check in and see how your pet is progressing. If any follow up appointments are needed they can be scheduled on the day of surgery or during the check in call.

👁️🐾 A fresh start for a better quality of life!

Here’s a before & after of an enucleation-the surgical removal of an eye that is causing pain or is affected by serious disease.

Enucleation may be recommended for conditions such as glaucoma, cancer, severe injury, or chronic eye disease.
While losing an eye may sound scary, removing a painful or diseased eye can provide significant pain relief and a much happier, more comfortable life 🤍

Dogs (and cats!) are incredibly adaptable, and many go on to live completely normal, happy lives with one eye 🐱🐶✨

Sometimes, the best way to help them see a brighter future is to take away what’s causing them pain 💕

🦷🐶 A closer look at those pearly whites! 👀

This is why we recommend yearly dental cleanings AND sedated oral exams for our furry friends 🪥✨ Some dental problems can hide below the gumline or in places we simply can’t see during a routine awake exam.

And a friendly reminder: sticks are NOT safe chew toys! 🪵🚫 They can splinter, cause painful mouth injuries, break teeth, or even become lodged in the mouth.

Your pup’s smile deserves some TLC! 💕🦷 Regular dental care helps us catch problems early and keep those tails wagging! 🐾

Help us protect 100 pets! 🐶🐱
Fairfax County identifies between 40-60 animals infected with rabies every year! Raccoons, foxes, skunks, and bats are the most frequently reported wild carriers in the area. Rabies is fatal to humans AND pets so to help raise awareness, we are offering $10 off all rabies vaccines for the months of August and September!
