Please help us welcome the newest members of the Farm & Friend General Veterinary Services LLC team!

We’re excited to have some new faces joining us as we continue growing and working to provide dependable, compassionate veterinary care for our community.

Each of them brings their own strengths, experience, and personality to the clinic, and we’re glad to have them on board. You may see them helping at the front desk, assisting with boarding or hospitalized patients, answering phones, or keeping things moving behind the scenes.

Dr. Taylor Flynn Jones, also the wife of Dr. Isaac Jones will be starting full time in a few weeks. This will allow us to start seeing appointments in the afternoon when we have farm calls scheduled.

If you see them around the clinic, be sure to introduce yourself and help us give them a warm welcome!

We’re grateful for our growing team and look forward to continuing to serve you and your animals.

Watch for updates to our website where we will provide short bios for all new employees.

🩺 Considering a New Preventative Option: Bravecto Quantum 🩺

At Farm & Friend Veterinary Services LLC, we are always researching advancements in veterinary medicine to help provide safe, effective, and convenient preventative care for our patients.

One product we are currently looking into is Bravecto Quantum — a veterinary-administered flea and tick preventative designed to provide extended protection against common external parasites in dogs.

Why prevention is important:

• Fleas can lead to severe itching, flea allergy dermatitis, skin infections, anemia, and tapeworm transmission• Ticks can carry diseases such as Lyme disease, Ehrlichiosis, and Anaplasmosis• Flea and tick exposure can occur year-round in our area, even during cooler months

When evaluating any preventative product, safety is one of our biggest priorities.

Some of the safety considerations we review include:

āœ” Veterinary research and clinical safety studies prior to approvalāœ” Weight-based dosing for accurate administrationāœ” Evaluation across different breeds, sizes, and ages of dogsāœ” Review of possible medication interactions and contraindicationsāœ” Monitoring recommendations for pets with seizure or neurologic historiesāœ” Long-term compliance benefits from reducing missed doses or lapses in prevention

An additional convenience we are looking into is the possibility of administering Bravecto Quantum during the same visit as ProHeart 12, allowing some dogs to receive long-term heartworm prevention along with extended flea and tick protection at one appointment.

At this time, this product would only be considered for dogs that have finished growing, as growth and developmental considerations are important when selecting long-acting preventatives.

Like all medications, preventatives can still carry the potential for side effects in some pets. Mild reactions reported with flea and tick preventatives may include:• Vomiting• Diarrhea• Temporary lethargy• Decreased appetite• Mild irritation at the administration site

As with many products in the isoxazoline class, caution is generally advised in pets with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders, and these pets should always be discussed individually with a veterinarian before beginning treatment.

Our goal is always to balance effectiveness, convenience, and safety to help pet owners choose the best prevention plan for their individual pets.

We would love feedback from our clients — is this something you would be interested in learning more about for your dogs? 🐾
