🌻🐾 Fluffy Coat Season is Here! 🐾🌻

As the weather gets cooler, a lot of pet parents like to leave their dogs a little longer and fluffier — and I can absolutely do that! 💛

The important thing to remember is that the longer the coat, the more maintenance it requires at home. Longer hair can tangle and mat much more easily, especially in high-friction areas like the ears, face, legs, armpits, chest, and around the collar or harness.

If you’d like to keep your pup fluffy through the colder months, I highly recommend regular brushing and combing all the way down to the skin between grooming appointments. 🪮🐶

A little consistent brushing at home can make a BIG difference in keeping your dog’s coat comfortable, healthy, and fluffy all winter long.

Did you know that sanitary trims are a great option for dogs who don’t need a full-body haircut but could use a little cleanup?

✂️ What’s included in a sanitary trim?

🐶 Brow Trim: Trimming excess hair around the eyes so your pup can see clearly!

🐾 Feet Cleanup: Tidying up those fluffy feet and trimming excess hair around the paws.

🫧 Sanitary Trim: Cleaning up the hair around the potty areas to help maintain cleanliness, comfort, and everyday hygiene!

🍁 It's shedding season! 🍂💨 Ever wonder what REALLY goes into a professional deshedding appointment?

🐾 Meet Dexter! 💛 This handsome boy is helping us take a behind-the-scenes look at his grooming appointment!

🌻🐾 More Than Just a Bath! 🫧

Let’s talk about the process and why each step matters!

💨 The Double Blowout: After a thorough bath, the first blowout helps remove excess water while loosening and blowing out dead undercoat. Once the coat is completely dry, it’s time for blowout number TWO! This second blowout helps remove even more loose hair that remains after the bathing and drying process.

And believe me, you’d be surprised how much hair can STILL come out during that second blowout! 😂

🫧 Bath Time: A thorough shampoo and rinse help remove dirt, excess oils, and buildup from the skin and coat. Conditioner, when appropriate for the coat, helps keep it soft, manageable, and looking its best!

🍂 Deshedding & Shedding Season: Did you know that many double-coated dogs experience increased shedding in both the spring AND fall? As their coats adjust to seasonal changes, that loose undercoat has to go somewhere!

Professional deshedding helps remove dead undercoat, reduce loose hair around your home, improve airflow through the coat, and prevent uncomfortable buildup and tangles.

While no grooming appointment can completely stop shedding, regular deshedding can make a BIG difference!

✂️ Sanitary Trims: Just because your dog doesn’t need a full haircut doesn’t mean they can’t benefit from a little trimming!

Sanitary trims help keep sensitive areas clean by removing excess hair around the rear and private areas. This can help prevent waste from getting caught in the coat, reduce odors, and make everyday hygiene easier.

Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest difference in your dog’s comfort!

🐾 Paw Pad Trimming: Excess hair growing between and around the paw pads can collect dirt, debris, and moisture. Keeping this hair neatly trimmed helps maintain cleaner paws and may improve traction on slippery floors!

✨ Finishing Touches: Nail trims, ear cleaning, brushing, and all those little details that help your pup look and feel their best!

❤️ Every Dog Is Different! Not every dog needs the same grooming routine. Each appointment is tailored to your dog’s individual coat type, grooming needs, and comfort.

🌻🐾 IMPORTANT POLICY UPDATE — PART 2

Yesterday, I shared my updated cancellation and no-show policy. Today, I wanted to follow up with the rest of my current Sunshine Grooming policies and business hours.

Most of these are reminders, with a few updates. I wanted to put everything in one place so expectations are clear and everyone has the same information moving forward.

A few important reminders include:
• 15-minute grace period for appointments
• Late pick-up fees after closing
• Matting and flea policies
• Grooming may be stopped if a dog becomes aggressive or unsafe to handle
• Payment due at pick-up
• Cancellation/no-show information is listed separately in yesterday’s post

🌻🐾 IMPORTANT POLICY UPDATE 🐾🌻

Beginning 10/06/26, Sunshine Grooming will be implementing an updated cancellation and no-show policy.

Unfortunately, I have experienced an increasing number of last-minute cancellations and no-shows. When an appointment is canceled with little or no notice, it is extremely difficult—often impossible—to fill that reserved time.

Going forward:

🌻 48+ hours notice: No cancellation fee
🌻 24–48 hours notice: 50% of the scheduled service
🌻 Less than 24 hours, same-day cancellations, or no-shows: 100% of the scheduled service

Any cancellation fee must be paid before another appointment can be booked.

I completely understand that true emergencies happen and will always handle those situations individually.

I truly appreciate everyone who respects their scheduled appointment time and supports my small business. These policies allow me to continue providing the time and care each dog deserves.
