Centralia Humane Society

Centralia Humane Society The OFFICIAL page for The Centralia Humane Society. Our application process ensures that our pets will receive great care in their new homes.

Our adoption application and requirements can be found at www.centraliahumanesocietyil.org/adopt. We are a no kill animal rescue facility serving Marion County, IL. We require that potential adopters have their current/past pets taken to the vet yearly for vaccinations, and that dogs are on heartworm prevention 12 months out of the year. First time pet owners must agree to keeping the animals on h

eartworm prevention and getting yearly vaccinations. We are a small shelter run by a very small amount of people. Please be patient with us. Please also understand that there is only one of each animal and unfortunately only one home can be chosen. We choose homes that best suit each individual animal, not on a first-come-first-serve basis.

~ TEMPORARY CHANGES AT CHS ~

Hello everyone! We apologize for being MIA lately. We are working hard to fill the gaps in our employee base, and have been very understaffed. We are working to train new staff members to be able to help our community as best we can. That being said, the following will be temporary changes until further notice:

⭕️ Approved applications will be required in order to make an appointment to view any animals.
⭕️ Appointments must be made to volunteer, or visit the shelter.
⭕️ Open hours may vary due to understaffed days.

Our priority is always to ensure the best care for our animals, as they always come first. As frustrating as these changes are, fortunately they are only temporary. Again, thank you so much for your understanding while we wade through the high waters on our end. Your support is as always greatly appreciated.

Thank you Queen Ella for visiting! 🐾

Meet Nessie & Charlie Brown! These two are a BONDED PAIR - meaning they must be adopted together.

Nessie (left) is 3 years old, & Charlie (right) is 2 years old. We believe the are mixed with Pug. They are pretty slow to warm up to new people, and will need a patient and loving home. Nessie is not the greatest with strangers - she would prefer a quieter home environment. Charlie depends on Nessie for warming up to people - he follows her lead. They look for one another when the other is not around.

They get along well with other cats, and dogs. Nessie can be a little possessive with other dogs that aren't Charlie. No other dogs is preferred, but not an absolute requirement with the right fit. Ask us about them today!

Apply today at www.centraliahumanesocietyil.org/adopt. Adoption requirements include animals being spayed/neutered, taken yearly for vaccinations, and dogs on monthly heartworm prevention.
