Centralia Humane Society The OFFICIAL page for The Centralia Humane Society. Our application process ensures that our pets will receive great care in their new homes.

Our adoption application and requirements can be found at www.centraliahumanesocietyil.org/adopt. We are a no kill animal rescue facility serving Marion County, IL. We require that potential adopters have their current/past pets taken to the vet yearly for vaccinations, and that dogs are on heartworm prevention 12 months out of the year. First time pet owners must agree to keeping the animals on heartworm prevention and getting yearly vaccinations. We are a small shelter run by a very small amount of people. Please be patient with us. Please also understand that there is only one of each animal and unfortunately only one home can be chosen. We choose homes that best suit each individual animal, not on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Holy Tuxedo Tuesday! Meet Alfie (top) and Trooper. They both came to the shelter in 2020 as kittens (they are not related) and have been with us ever since.

They aren't the type of cats to run up and meet you on day one. They need someone who doesn't mind putting the time and energy into making them feel safe and in a place of their own. Once they earn your trust, they have a heart of good. Ideally, they would make someone out there the perfect quiet companion.

On nice days, if you drive by our shelter, look at the catios out front and see if you can spot them. They're usually out lounging trying to soak up the sun.

Alfie is a neutered male. Has been microchipped and is up to date on all vaccines. Trooper is a spayed female who is also fully vetted, microchipped. While, they are in the pic together, they are NOT needing to go to the same home.

Sweet Bishop. A two and half year old husky mix with a zest for life. Bishop loves being outside. Whether it's running in a fenced in yard, walking on his leash, or playing with his toys, Bishop loves to just live for the moment.

True to his husky side, Bishop is intelligent and exquisite. He loves to see what's coming next. Bishop has plenty of athletic drive and enthusiasm for owners that are on the go.

Sweet Bella.
Loves a good swimming pool
Loves walks, does excellent on a leash.
Enjoys when you just sit in her kennel with her, talking softly rubbing her head.
She is a dog selective but she has no problems with her buddy Bishop, and they play together as long as we can allow them.
As much as we love Bella we want to her to go to someone who can give her the love and attention she so desperately craves.
Even if you can't adopt at the moment, come out to the shelter and volunteer. See how amazing these animals really are. All they really want is love and attention.

Ever met someone who wants to just hang out all day? That's Auggie. He lays in this hammock nonstop only to come down for potty breaks and meals. Today as we cleaned the room he's in, he came down and gave me a gentle nudge as if saying I'm still here.
Auggie wants his own home to hang his hammock in. He loves to be petted and whenever you go to pet him he's quick to try to geta tummy rub in. He's sweet, gentle and whenever you let him purrs up a storm.

Auggie does have some problems with his urinary tract but please dont let that keep you from considering him. He does need a special food but besides that he does just great.

Here is our girl Faye! She's just hanging around waiting on someone to come visit and hopefully adopt her........don't make her keep looking around when the purrfect home is out there for her.
Faye is a beautiful 2 year old tortoise shell, she loves to climb cat trees, and loves her time on the catio.
Faye is fully vetted and is ready to go!

Meet Fritz! 🐾

He is estimated to be around a year old. This strong, strapping young man is ready for his new home!

He is higher energy at his young age, and is not loving being in a kennel. He would thrive in a home with some mental and physical stimulation; walks, hikes, puzzle games, etc! At this time, we are unsure how he is with other animals. We would recommend a home with no small children.

This is Sweet Potato. We had adopted her out to the past but because she is so high energy. She needs someone who can invest some time to teach her all the things she's so capable of learning. Sweet Potato would love to live with someone who loves outdoors adventures, maybe someone who jogs. Sweet Potato in the words of one of my co workers is "ready to be someone's shadow.". Even though we let her out continuously during the day, being in a kennel is getting to her. Be the one who makes a difference in her life.
If you can't adopt Sweet Potato but want to help her, come out and walk her. She does a great job on the leash after her initial excitement. Share this post so we can get her info out into the world and hopefully get her out of the kennel life.
