While the country is remembering the tragic events that rocked our nation 25 years ago, let’s take a moment to remember the most prominent dogs that expended so much of themselves saving others.
The list below are the ones I’ve found, I’ve read about most of these dogs and their stories are nothing but amazing. Take a moment and read the list and a brief description about each one.
* Bretagne: A Golden Retriever who spent 10 days searching Ground Zero with her handler Denise Corliss. She was famously known as the last living search-and-rescue dog from 9/11 before passing away in 2016.
* Apollo: An NYPD German Shepherd and the very first K-9 to arrive at the World Trade Center (just 15 minutes after the collapse), where he worked 18-hour days.
* Trakr: A German Shepherd from Canada who, alongside his handler James Symington, discovered Genelle Guzman-McMillan—the last survivor pulled from the World Trade Center rubble.
* Riley: A Golden Retriever whose iconic photograph being carried out of the wreckage by his handler became a symbol of the tireless efforts at Ground Zero.
* Sage: A Border Collie who worked at the Pentagon site and helped locate victims.
* Jake: A black Labrador Retriever who was rescued as an abused stray puppy before becoming a premier FEMA search-and-rescue dog in Utah.
* Roselle and Salty: Two Labrador Retriever guide dogs who bravely guided their owners (Michael Hingson and Omar Rivera) down more than 70 flights of stairs from the burning World Trade Center towers to safety.
* Coby and Guinness: Two California-based Labradors who worked grueling 12-hour shifts for over a week in the debris.

In September 2001, a two-year-old Golden Retriever named Bretagne arrived at Ground Zero with her handler, Denise Corliss. It was her first deployment, and for 10 straight days, she worked 12-hour shifts on the smoking rubble of the Twin Towers, searching for survivors alongside roughly 300 other rescue dogs from across the country.

They found almost no one alive. But Bretagne's presence gave something just as vital to the exhausted firefighters and rescue workers around her. Time and again, they would stop what they were doing just to kneel down and pet her—a moment of comfort in the middle of unimaginable devastation. Sometimes a dog's greatest work isn't measured in lives rescued, but in hearts held.

Bretagne went on to serve for years afterward, deploying to Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita before retiring at age 9. In her later years, she became a beloved reading companion for elementary school children, listening patiently as they practiced reading aloud.

On June 6, 2016, at age 16, Bretagne was euthanized in Cypress, Texas. Nearly 30 firefighters lined the path to the veterinary clinic to salute her one final time, and an American flag was draped over her body. She was the last known surviving search dog from 9/11—a quiet hero who never wore a uniform but earned every bit of the honor she received. Her legacy reminds us that some dogs change the world not through fanfare, but through steady, humble devotion to those who need them most.

🐾❤️Cost of a groom❤️🐾

Lately I keep getting told, my dogs groom costs more than my haircut.

This is very true... but please remember, if you behaved like your dog, you'd most likely be banned or arrested 😉

What would happen if you walked into a salon and took a dump on the floor? 💩

Once that was cleaned up, you the cocked your leg and peed on the hairdressers shoe? 💦

Just say the hairdresser still forgave you, because you're just so damn cute..
Then to thank them, you randomly bite them 🫦

Or maybe you're tame, you don't bite and you went to the loo before you arrived.

Guaranteed you still spend the groom standing up, sitting down, having a nap, shouting, bobbing your head, sneezing, shaking your head, trying to lick the scissors/hairdressers face/your own butt.

While they wash your hair, you casually ask if they can wash the 1 week old cling on 💩 that's stuck on your bottom.

Then remind them to shave your bum/balls/bikini line/armpits, clean your ears, and to trim your nails all while you practice your dance moves.

Having your haircut is NOT the same as grooming your dog 😂 so let's not compare completely different trades.

**I haven't mentioned matted fur, ticks/fleas, and other inappropriate behaviour but I could go on ❤️😂**
