🐶💉 WHY VET VACCINATIONS ARE SO IMPORTANT FOR YOUR PET! 💉🐶

🤩 Here’s a little information from a veterinary perspective about why keeping your pet’s vaccinations current is SO important!

When a new client messages me, one of the first things I ask is:

“Are they current on all of their veterinary vaccinations?”

For the safety of every dog in our facility, all required vaccinations must be current and administered through a veterinary clinic before boarding.

Sometimes a dog’s owner believes their pup is fully vaccinated, but the vaccines may actually be expired, incomplete, or may not meet our facility’s requirements. This is completely understandable—vaccine schedules can be confusing, and not everyone knows the difference between vaccines obtained through a veterinary office and those purchased elsewhere.

🐾 Why does this matter?

Veterinary clinics keep records of your pet’s vaccines, including which vaccine was given and when. They also follow proper handling and storage requirements. Vaccines need to be stored and handled correctly to remain effective.

🐾 Common vaccinations required for boarding include:
• Distemper/Parvovirus
• Leptospirosis
• Bordetella
• Rabies

The exact vaccines and timing should always be determined by your veterinarian and may depend on your pet’s age, health, previous vaccination history, and the specific vaccine product.

🐕 Puppies especially need time!

Puppies typically receive a series of vaccinations during their first few months of life. Your veterinarian will let you know when the series is complete and when boosters are due.

If your dog’s vaccinations have lapsed or they are receiving vaccinations for the first time, please plan ahead before boarding. We may require a waiting period after vaccination so your pet has time to develop protection. Our specific boarding requirements will always apply.

Vaccinations help reduce the risk of preventable illnesses spreading through a facility where many dogs are together.
