Mile High Equestrian and Rescue

Mile High Equestrian and Rescue MHR is committed to saving & rehoming equines while providing a space for horse and rider to grow.

Mission:
Mile High Rescue is a 501(c)3 facilitates a connection between horses and humans in trusting and loving relationships. We are committed to saving neglected and slaughter-bound equines while providing an atmosphere where both horse and rider can grow through training, rehabilitation, and education as we form forever homes for our rescues. Vision:
We strive to improve horse (and human!) wel

l-being for a positive and healthy future. Through shared knowledge and support we create long-term solutions and guidance for those in need.

Our approach to rescue rehabilitation is through positive techniques, established leadership and patience, allowing horses to recover and learn at their own pace. Additionally, we facilitate and host educational outreach programs and events to promote mental wellness and support a strong, healthy community. By partnering with local groups for greater good events, we support the local economy and give back to the community.

He may have little hooves now, but this dude has some big adventures ahead! 🐴💕 Our newest rescue baby shows off his playful side running, playing, and exploring 🥹💛

Look at the progress our newest rescues are making! 💕🐴

Our new mare-and-foal pair is still completing quarantine with our friends at Terolyn Horse Rescue, inc., but they’re already learning some important skills. David Gerrish of Caprock Equine LLC has been helping them get comfortable with haltering and handling so they can safely make the journey to Mile High in early September.

There’s still plenty of care needed between now and then. Terolyn could use help with shavings, fly spray, and Purina® Omolene® #300 Mare & Foal feed while the pair is in quarantine. Once they arrive at Mile High, we’ll take over their ongoing care and help them settle into their next chapter.

💛🐴We’re thrilled to be able to welcome one of the mom-and-baby pairs rescued from the livestock auction. They will be joining our herd at MHR once quarantine wraps up! These two have been through so much, and we can’t wait to give them their fresh start.

Huge thanks to Terolyn Horse Rescue for pulling them from auction, and to everyone helping make this second chance possible. 🙏

Support starts with a conversation.

The United Horse Coalition’s Equine Lifeline, supported by a grant from the ASPCA connects horse owners, caregivers, rescues, sancrtuaries, animal control and the boarder equine community with lifesaving resources before situations turn into crisis.

From safety net resources, end-of-life guidance, and responsible rehoming options, Equine Lifeline helps ensure horses have a humane, responsible path forward, and don’t fall through the cracks, helping to reduce entry into the slaughter pipeline.

Every horse deserves a lifeline.

🐴 Momentum is building for homeless horses.

A recent measure advancing through Congress would help close a long-standing loophole that allows horses to be transported across borders for slaughter. While not yet law, it’s an encouraging step toward stronger protections for American horses.

We see firsthand why prevention, protection, and second chances matter. So, how you can help move the Van Drew-Titus measure forward?

* Share information on social media to increase awareness and encourage others to contact Congress.
* Support horse rescues and rehoming organizations, since the rescuing is an important part of reducing the slaughter pipeline.
* Participating in advocacy campaigns from organizations such as the ASPCA, Animal Welfare Institute, EQUUS Foundation, and other equine welfare groups.
* Encouraging responsible horse ownership, including planning for retirement, rehoming, and long-term care.

💛 Help support your favorite horse rescue by:
*Donating to support rescue, rehabilitation, and daily care of rescue horses
*Volunteer and make a direct impact (Join our Volunteer Orientation next Sunday!)
*Share the missions you support to spread awareness
