Time to get the old dogs out. Rosie hasn't been on birds since last hunting season. She will need a few birds to get her back in shape! You can see she's happy to get the opportunity!! A little rusty but she's a really tuff upland dog.

The other apple of my eye! I just celebrated 55 years of marriage with my high school sweetheart. This little gal (Sunny), is my other true love. Soon to be nine years old. Her eyes are getting a bit cloudy and her muzzle is nearly white. Her heart is pure gold! I could write a book on this one dog. We've shared a lot and she's taught me a lot. I can only hope anyone reading this has also had a Sunny. She asks very little and gives me everything she has. She has everthing I look for in a dog. She loves to work, loves to hunt and loves to cuddle. No matter how many years we have remaining, it won't be enough. One of life's true blessings!

Here is an update on the English Setter (Banjo). I refer to him as Rocket Man! A dog with a lot of talent and a ton of drive. He is learning to stay in sight and stay in touch with me. Most of us foot hunters prefer this. There was a bird and a shot at the end of this video. Sorry to say, I somehow turned the video off while reaching for my launcher control. I've never figured out how to operate a launcher, gun, camera and a e-collar with two hands!!

I'm sure he thinks this ole man is the slowest person on earth. Little does he know, I'm winning. No doubt he's a really nice dog and will soon be an outstanding hunting dog. Trust the process.

Rain, rain, rain! Well Mable doesn't mind, she's gonna get wet anyway! She just turned four months old. I'm in no hurry for her to grow up. I keep things light and fun. She doesn't realize we're training.

I've trained several Setters over the years. Most of them wanted nothing to do with water! This pup is a breath of fresh air. Like most Setters, he too has lots of energy. I've started using swimming as a way to wear down some of his energy. He's an outstanding dog in the field. With a litter more work he may make a duck dog too!! Gotta love enthusiasm.

Prior to this photo, I posted a picture of Rocky with this little boy. He's helping his dad (Charles) with the dogs. Charles took Rocky to his first HRC test this weekend. Rocky passed his test Saturday and Sunday. I'm very glad that this young boy is working with Rocky. They both have a promising future!! Now I'm worried that I may have a tuff time getting Rocky back!

Working Mable on a live quail. This is my version of a wing on a string. There is more scent and the bird fluttering adds to the excitement. The birds are not hurt during this process. It will put some fire into a pup! This is a typical first time encounter. She will get better with this soon. I apologize for the quality of the video. It's tuff holding the camera and handling the bird.
