Iowa Humane Alliance is a Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Corridor area nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to ending the animal over-population crisis and eliminating euthanasia of healthy and adoptable pets in Iowa. One of the ways they accomplish this is through the Iowa Humane Alliance Regional Spay/Neuter Clinic which offers high quality, low cost spay and neuter services five days a week for s

helter, owned and free roaming animals. Programs Include:

Iowa’s only high-quality, low-cost, high-volume spay/neuter clinic

I-TRAP– provides training on how to humanely trap-neuter-return community cats, discounted spay/neuter, and live, humane trap rentals

Spay Iowa– Referral system for low-cost spay/neuter resources

Love for Pets– Providing low-cost spay/neuter, vaccinations, pet supplies, and microchips for under-served neighborhoods locally

This may look like a truck filled with garbage bags—but it’s so much more!
These bags are packed with redeemable cans that a generous supporter dropped off at our clinic this week. From here, they’re headed to the home of one of our dedicated volunteers, who will take them to The Can Shed for redemption.

On average, IHA supporters donate approximately $200 in redeemable cans each month. That adds up to an incredible $2,400 a year—enough to help fund 24 dog or 48 cat spay/neuter surgeries!

It’s a wonderful reminder that even the simplest donations can add up to make a tremendous difference. Thank you to everyone who saves cans for IHA—and to the volunteers who help turn them into healthier pets and stronger communities!

Congratulations to Sam, our Animal Allies Special Guest winner!

A longtime supporter of Iowa Humane Alliance, Sam joined Talli and Slider for a very exclusive lunch at the Animal Ally Café—and it was quite the five-paw affair!

Sam arrived with homemade catnip tea. Slider immediately decided it smelled very interesting, while Talli remained politely unconvinced.

Next came lickable appetizers served on tiny spoons—because fine dining deserves fancy utensils! Then it was on to the entrées. Slider proudly joined the Clean Plate Club, while Talli took her time because, as any sophisticated feline knows, fine dining is meant to be savored.

Thank you, Sam, for your longtime friendship and support—and thank you to all our Animal Allies whose dependable monthly gifts help IHA provide affordable spay and neuter services throughout Eastern Iowa. We hope you enjoyed your special lunch as much as Talli and Slider did!

Talli and Slider are looking forward to keeping in touch with Sam through monthly letters over the next year, and they'll share occasional updates with our supporters along the way!

Alley Cat Rescue Challenge Update!

Every month, Iowa Humane Alliance moves one step closer to our goal of helping 2,500 community cats through our Alley Cat Rescue Challenge. To date, we have completed 1,831 community cat surgeries!

To every person who has given their time, patience, gasoline, early mornings, late nights, and an enormous amount of heart—thank you! You are creating lasting change, one cat and one colony at a time.

Hooray for IHA! We have reached an incredible milestone! We have completed over 120,000 spay and neuter surgeries since opening our doors in 2013! On October 10th. IHA will be holding its annual Feral Freedom Fest! To make this event a success, we are asking for donations of Styrofoam style coolers so that we can make and distribute winter shelters for community cats. These need to be at least 18 x 18 inches square, with thick sides.

We are also in need of straw and duct tape to complete the shelters. Donations can be dropped off at the IHA clinic during our regular business hours (M-F). Thanks for your help!

This weekend, Talli and Slider will be working hard to track new Animal Allies. Talli is keeping a close eye on the mailbox, while Slider is watching for online donations!

With another hot late-summer weekend ahead, they have a suggestion: Stay inside, keep cool and sign up to become an IHA recurring donor. Current Animal Allies can also increase their monthly gifts to join the fun!
