"Biak" is one of the most famous and distinct localities of the Green Tree Python (Morelia viridis). Because Biak is an isolated island, its python population evolved unique traits that set them apart from mainland Papua or Australian localities.

​We always talk about ontogenetic color change (OCC) in GTPs, but seeing the timeline laid out month-by-month really puts it into perspective. He started out with that rich, deep juvenile red, and now those adult greens and yellows are starting to show through.

​Keeping track of these timelines and preserving lineage data isn't just paperwork—it’s how to ensure I'm doing right by the animals and the hobby.

Honestly, I can’t stop staring at this girl today.

​Every time I think I’ve gotten used to how incredible Green Tree Pythons look, she just sits there like this and completely blows me away. The saturation on her right now is unreal, and those clean white spots along her spine get me every single time.

Animals like this are exactly why I got into keeping reptiles in the first place. You just can’t beat looking into a cage and seeing an animal this perfect.
