So interesting! Ok, I do like Sudoku and Pickle Ball. Maybe I am just hopeful. We do see a lot of cognitive issues in senior dogs! I love the idea of old dog obedience class!

Patience, calmness and working as a team got us to this point. I have been working with Laci since she was a puppy and she has always been reactive. Touching her was not in her comfort zone unless you were Mom or Dad. We used different calming techniques and were able to do an exam. We used a towel over her head to help calm her and distract her from movements in the room. Mom and Dad have worked with her so much. They direct her energy into agility and scent work. This was her five year annual and she actually came up to me! It only took five years, but what progress! I was bribing her with cheese but she let me pet her!

We have been getting a lot of questions about Screwworms. Here are the recommendations from the Texas Veterinary Medical Association. This is a huge concern for our wildlife and livestock. We are not so concerned about our patients as most of you have your pets on flea and tick prevention and spend a lot of time looking over your pets. This is a treatable disease as long as people are paying attention
Keep your pets groomed and monitor any wounds that may not be healing well. Nexgard, Credlio Quattro and Capstar are all approved to treat and kill this parasite. There are similar products with similar ingredients that likely work as well, but just aren’t approved yet. Keep an eye on wildlife in your area for any suspicious wounds. Livestock is also at risk as many people keep them in herds and wounds may go un noticed at first.
