June
Once apon a time in my younger days I purchased a gamey 13.2hh driving mule named “June”
I had help breaking her to ride and proceeded to take her all over this side of the world. She has been to Shawnee, knott co, mammoth cave, LBL and many more places I know I’m failing to mention. I used her to work cattle, hooked her with a few other mules to drive and used her to pony colts… she was my only mule and mount and I used her that way. She was the only mule I ever owned or ever had (even to this day) that you could point her up a rock or really even a tree and she would climb no questions asked. I’m fully convinced she is the mule that started my name and who started mule TikTok on this side of the world and I would have put her up against anything out west.
June was still fairly young and with rest she would get fresh and buck.. not hard, but it was there.. I always assumed it was my saddle because it wasn’t a mule saddle and the sweat marks just never looked right to me and sometimes she gauled bad. I got her going really good and decided to sell her to get my mule 2 year old (at the time) Rip. I was honest about her and she sold quick. She sold in 2021
While I was being a mom for the past few years and growing a family June (with her new owner) has been on pasture and pulled out to be rode maybe not even four times, all times in which she did great.
Here recently June is back with me, to sell. She is chunky and was super herd bound with a horse that she came with. She has never been a lovey dovey mule but she looked at me with disgust and knew exactly why she was here back with me.
I have separated the horse and started working June and our relationship .. in the month I have had her I have ponied her and worked her in the round pen and she has bucked 3 random times. I have been on her twice.
Why am I writing this post? Because I have had very many people ask me how much June is, and as quick as I’d like to move her I would like to see how much of my old mule I have left here before I give someone my word that she is good to go.
The current owners want $3500 for her. And until I can get a better feel for what I have here I’m selling her as packing and driving mule. Don’t come at me being a cowboy saying you can ride the p**s and vinegar out of her cause she is truly a MULE that takes that stuff to heart, and it always goes backwards.
This mule has taught me the good and the bad in everything I have done, and will do with mules… and she is still continuing to teach me.
She is good with dogs, clipping, leading and catching..the list goes on in that area.. she will be my next “project” so to speak and I will be spending some more time with her while her buddy Fraya recovers.
