Partners Dog Training School is one of the best known schools in the State, and has appeared on TV and radio numerous times. We are an all service professional school, offering a wide variety of services to the pet dog community. We are located on ten acres in the beautiful Cave Creek (Northeast Phoenix) area. Green grass training fields, an indoor air conditioned training center, and indoor air-conditioned kennels. We are a positive reward based school. Our goal is to find solutions to your dog problems, and provide a safe and happy place for dogs to train and board. We have thirty years of working with thousands of clients, finding and fixing problems with dogs. Barking, aggression, digging, pulling, biting; we work with any issue. We also offer swimming, dock diving, agility training and snake proofing of dogs. Feel free to come and visit, watch a class or meet with a trainer.

The splash, then the longest half-second until a nose surfaces. πŸ’¦

Plenty of dogs paddle hard and still can't find the way out. Calm in, calm out: make a quiet entry and a quiet exit the habit. Nervous swimmers start shallow: play, treats, no forcing, over weeks. Practice "Come" indoors, then on the pool deck, paying well for every return. After the swim: water, rest, and watch for panting that doesn't settle.

Picture your dog heading for the steps on their own, every time. Splash first, questions later. 🐾

You ask once. Then twice. Then you hear yourself pleading and wonder: does my dog even know this? πŸ˜…

Mixed signals confuse a dog. When the rules change from person to person, a dog learns that "Sit" works with Mom and jumping works with Dad.

The good news: consistency can be taught, and it starts with the people around your dog. Taka's first day shows where that begins.

Where to start at home:
β€’ Write your top five house rules on a card and stick it on the fridge. Everyone in the family follows the same list.
β€’ Everyone uses the same word for each cue, the same way.
β€’ Use the reward ladder: praise, petting, play, then food. Save chicken or cheese for the hardest asks and the busiest places, and ease back toward lower-value rewards as the behavior gets reliable. Every treat comes from your hand.

Picture your dog going down on the first ask, for you. 🐾

Which command does your dog blow off the most? Tell us below. Knowing which one slips tells the whole family where to start πŸ‘‡

Foundation Camp builds the skills, then teaches your family to keep them going at home. Book a tour, or call 480-595-6700.

Why does your dog walk beautifully in the backyard and drag you down the sidewalk? 🐾

You pictured easy strolls when you got your dog. Now your shoulder does the work, and you cross the street the second you spot another dog.

The backyard is an empty parking lot. Anyone can parallel park there. The sidewalk has lizards and the neighbor's dog, so that's where the skill has to be practiced, and with everyone who walks your dog.

Archie has places to be. πŸ˜„ Here's where to start:
β€’ Treat it like levels: the house is level 1, the yard level 3, the neighborhood level 5. Give the yard a full week, and move to the sidewalk once your dog is about 90% reliable there.
β€’ When you head out, start in low-traffic spots, and practice door manners at every exit: your dog waits at the door, no bolting.
β€’ When another dog comes into view, turn and walk the other way before your dog starts pulling toward it, and reward every look back at you with a treat from your hand.

Picture the front door opening on the walk you hoped for: your shoulder off duty, the next dog just another dog. That walk can be taught, one level at a time.

Where does your walk fall apart: the front door or the first dog you pass? Tell us below πŸ‘‡

Camp pickup day is a happy reunion with one quiet worry: will it stick once we're home? πŸŽ“

For Lauren B., the answer came with a bonus: their puppy has "LOVED coming back for doggie daycare days" since camp. 🐾

For 14 nights, a whole team of trainers works with each puppy, so "Sit" holds up no matter who has the leash.

To help it stick at home:
β€’ Practice each new skill in three different rooms before you take it outside.
β€’ After a trip or a break from practice, go back to basics for 3 to 5 days: short sessions, easy wins.

Picture a puppy who loves going back to school, with skills that stay fresh between visits. πŸ“ˆ

What was the first cue your puppy nailed? Tell us below πŸ‘‡

DaySchool runs on the same curriculum, so the practice keeps going after camp. Foundation Camp welcomes fully vaccinated puppies from 20 weeks. See how it works:

The mail carrier walks up, your house erupts, and you wave an apology through the window. πŸ“¬

Then your dog struts back like they saved the day. In their experience, the bark works, because the mail carrier always leaves. Biscuit's about to find out why.

A few things to try at home:
β€’ Practice the check-in (your dog looking back at you) in tiny moments all day, like during a commercial break, when nothing is going by. It's about how often, not how long.
β€’ Bring the trigger closer over weeks, not days. If your dog can't look back at you, it's too close, so add space and try again.
β€’ Once the check-in is solid, turn dials for distance, duration, or distraction! Dial up the difficulty to dial in the response!

Picture the mail carrier walking by and your dog turning to look at you instead. 🐾

What does your dog think they chase away every day? Tell us below. Knowing the trigger is where every plan starts πŸ‘‡

If you're not sure what keeps your dog's barking going, a PD360 Assessment looks at your dog across nine dimensions, reactive behaviors included. Book one, or call 480-595-6700.

Your puppy flinches at the vacuum, and you worry they will grow up nervous. Helping dogs work through those exact moments is what Monica Jensen does best. 🐢

Monica has been with Partners for over 5 years. She manages our DaySchool and Boarding programs, and she also teaches Pre-School Puppy and Zoomer’s Agility at our Cave Creek campus. Every day, she helps dogs build confidence, social skills, and a solid response to their name.

Her approach is simple: meet puppies where they are and build on small wins. Here is how you can practice this at home:

β€’ Try one new thing at a time. Introduce a single new sound or surface in a calm space, like a friend's house, and raise the level slowly as your puppy handles it.

β€’ Keep practice short and fun. Aim for three sessions a day, 3 to 5 minutes each, feeding high-value treats right from your hand.

β€’ Celebrate the small wins. Puppies learn at different speeds. Before long, you will picture your puppy walking up to new things all on their own. 🐾

What does your puppy do the first time they see something new? Tell us below πŸ‘‡
