Chaparral Veterinary Medical Center is a full service Veterinary facility for dogs, cats and horses. CVMC used to be know as Chaparral Animal Hospital before we moved to our state of the art facility in 2008.

It is with heavy hearts that we at Chaparral say goodbye to one of our own. Dr. Darla Moser was one of our staff intern doctors before she went on to complete a residency in Equine Surgery. She then headed back to her Desert Pines family where she started her her family, saved many horses, and touched many lives. We miss her and pray for comfort over her family and all of our friends at Desert Pines.

Infection of the coffin joint and navicular bursa can be a life threatening injury. It is common to get infections with heel bulb lacerations and nails in the foot. Sometimes these infections linger longer than we realize. Here is a horse with an infected coffin joint and navicular bursa. We arthroscopically lavaged the joint, made a window into the bottom of the navicular bursa (streetnail procedure) and lavaged both structures extensively. This gives the horse the best chance of survival. We have a long road to go but we are putting our best foot forward.
