Look at this beauty šŸ˜ the last few months, I’ve been bustin’ it with deer… and I can finally say that the deer that came into my shop on or before opening weekend of firearm season… are at least MOUNTED! And now… it’s been over 2 years since I’ve had an actual vacation… for more than 2 days… so while the current batch I just mounted is drying, the shop is closed until May 20th for some much needed r&r! This 7 days a week nonstop thing… it tends to wear on ya some šŸ˜‚šŸ„“

Last year, I took a break from competing. This year, I got back in the game! And I’m glad I did! There were some craaaaazy mounts and competition level! In a crazy turn of events, my mount that I thought was my champ…. Got smoked by my wild card šŸ˜‚ my little baby fox pouncing at a butterfly, scored an 88/100, giving me a second place ribbon. My flying squirrel, that I really didn’t expect a ribbon for at all, scored an 87/100, also winning a second place ribbon. And my wild card, the pine marten, turned out to be a hit! He scored 91/100 points, earning a first place ribbon. All in the professional division! And the real surprise… the marten also won best of category- professional division… which really shocked me… and then, he won highest scoring small mammal-professional division!! 🤯 as always, I got some great critiques from some incredibly knowledgeable and skilled taxidermists and learned a lot. I can’t wait to utilize some of the new stuff I learned at the 2026 NY taxidermy convention/competition! 😁

Happy Sunday everybody! Two happy little updates:
1) I have decided that this week, I will take in my waiting list bucks! That means if you contacted me after I reached my cut off point and I told you to keep your bucks frozen until I had some space free up, now is your time to shine! Call or text me and we can set up an appointment for you to come drop yours off, this week!
2) This week, I will be mounting the last of my archery bucks, and then we’re onto rifle season bucks! I’ve been running a few weeks behind, but I’m hoping that now that I’m moved into the new shop and have A LOT more space, I can make up that time!
Here are two special bucks among the last ones mounted in the old shop! Beauties!

Saturday, it was all hands to help my parents move into their new house, which quickly escalated into helping me move into the new shop. Today, I walked out and closed the door of my first shop for the last time. 1 month shy of 11 years- a lot of blood, sweat, tears, smiles, customers and critters went into that building. My first customer deer mounted in that shop was for Mollie McNamara, and my last deer mounted in that shop was for Charlie Love, with hundreds between the two. I grew up in that shop, escaped the world when I needed to in that shop, and grew my skills as a taxidermist in that shop. The business outgrew that shop years ago, but I made it work. Between saying goodbye to the building and my childhood home, it’s been bittersweet moving into the new shop for sure. But onto the next journey we go! Thank you to everyone who has trusted me to mount their critters, supported me along the way, and helped me move and get the new shop ready! Goodbye, 8419 Colvin Rd, you’ve been too good to me šŸ’” Hello, 79 South St, let’s see what you’ve got in store! šŸ’ŖšŸ˜Ž

I guess it’s been a while since I did an introduction post, so for the new faces around here, hi! I’m Haley! Welcome to Creekside!

Here’s some stuff about me:

I started this business over 10 years ago. Since then, I’ve done hundreds of mounts, done jobs for a lot of other taxidermists, and lived a whole lot of life! I’m a God fearing wife to a wonderful man, I fish, I hunt, I farm, I have 4 cats and a dog, and I grow a lot of my own food, (along with that comes harvesting, canning, dehydrating, so forth,). I have tattoos, I’m a certified naturopathic and holistic health practitioner, I grew up homeschooled in East Otto, NY, I was in 4H for 12 years, Grand Champion Dairy Steer Showman for 2 of those years, and I’ve been 1st place for NYS at Nationals for Bible Quizzing. I’m a sucker for a good 80’s theme, I listen to everything from Miranda Lambert, to Patsy Cline, to Lita Ford, to Five Finger Death Punch- and everything in between.

I’m so glad you’re here! I appreciate all the customers, business, and support over the years, and I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can!

My first sheep! This big boy was more of a pet than anything, and he was around 20 years old. I didn’t know sheep could live that long! As most of the unusual jobs, I had my work cut out for me on this one, but he came out so good!

I have reached my cut off for the year and am FULL! Thank you everyone for trusting me with your trophies! As much as I would love to take all of them in, I need to stop in order to keep the turnaround time under a year and keep everyone happy! It’s been a record year for me, and I’m grateful for you all! First batch mounted and drying!

Lots of big feelings today. Spent maybe an hour walking and saw 2 little does and a small buck. Then this guy showed his face, hobbling and visibly wounded. He didn’t look like the trophy buck I had pictured, but for the second time in my hunting career, I had to do the moral thing. So I put him down and spent 45 minutes crying for the pain he was in before I found him. My sweetheart and parents showed up to help me get him out of the woods. I take the old 20 gauge out every year. It was my great grandfather’s gun, who passed it to my dad, who let my mom use it when she started hunting, who gave it to me when I started hunting. It’s killed a lot of deer and did the job again. Thankful for the meat, thankful for the filled tag, and bittersweet feelings that I just happened to cross paths with this 8 point and end his suffering. Wish I wasn’t faced with this situation again, but thankful at the same time.

So here’s the thing… we aren’t even finished with archery season yet, and I’ve already got half of my total intake from last year in 🤯 you guys are killas!

As a lot of you already know, within the next month or two, I’m finally going to be moving into my new shop once it’s finished. Don’t worry, I’ll keep everyone posted on the address and date when that happens. For now, business is still conducted at the Colvin rd shop.

While talking about moving to a new shop, I realize how much stuff I’m going to have to move šŸ˜‚ I have a coyote that I’m hoping to ā€˜rehome’. I have the hide and supplies, but it’s not mounted yet. Pictured is the pose that it will be, I did not mount the one below! The hide coloring will look a little different, but you get the idea. The ā€˜rehoming fee’ will be 🐾 500 🐾 message if interested!

We’re coming right up on rifle season, so good luck out there everyone! Stay safe and be responsible!
