Went to meet a lovely young lady, Rachel, who took a ride with her father to pick up our Bertha and take her back to her forever home in VA. To help out, I agreed to meet her at the NY/PA border welcome center. My sister, who does not like car travel decided to go with me. After all, it was only a 2 hour drive each way on Interstate 81. Well, getting there was very pleasant, Rachel and her father seemed quite happy with Bertha, who calmly traveled without a sound. On the way home, not far out of Binghamton, traffic hit a dead stop. Police sped up the left side of us, several tow vehicles sped up the right side. We, and other vehicles that stretched as far as the eye could see, sat and waited for traffic to move, but it didnt. Finally after about an hour and a half, I, along with several others, decided to drive up the grassy hill to the 81 southbound highway, and hopefully go back on Route 11 to get around whatever the mess was. We still dont know what happened. I think Rachel and her father may have reached their destination back in VA before my sister and I got back home! Im glad I had her company and thank her for her patience with my daredevil move to exit the highway! What a trip! I may have to reconsider meeting pet families after this one!! What we wont do for these kitties. Have a very happy life with your new family, Bertha.
