A PROCLAMATION FROM DAWNSTAR STABLES
To all would-be knights, ladies, and aspiring champions who have expressed interest in taking up the lance:
We have heard your call! ⚔️🐎
But the path to the lists is not one traveled in a single day. Before you may take the field as a jouster, you must first prove your horsemanship, discipline, and dedication.
🛡️ THE REQUIREMENTS OF INITIATION 🛡️
⚔️ I. — OF AGE
The aspiring jouster must be 18 years of age or older.
🐎 II. — OF HORSEMANSHIP
You must complete no less than 6 months to 1 year of paid riding lessons, depending upon your individual skill, experience, and readiness. The road to the lists begins with becoming an excellent horseman.
🏰 III. — OF THE FOUR TOURNAMENTS
Before mounting for battle, you must attend at least 4 jousting events as a SQUIRE and member of the ground crew.
There you shall learn the workings of the tournament, the horses, equipment, safety procedures, and all the duties required of those who serve upon the field.
🐴 IV. — OF THE STEED
A jouster must lease the horse they intend to use or provide their own suitable horse.
🛡️ V. — OF ARMOR
Every aspiring knight must provide their own armor and required equipment.
⚔️ THE PATH IS NOT EASY — NOR SHOULD IT BE.
Jousting is a serious equestrian discipline requiring skill, preparation, responsibility, and trust between horse and rider.
At DawnStar Stables, we believe that the finest knights are not simply made in the lists. They are forged through horsemanship, patience, discipline, courage, and respect for the horse.
So if you dream of carrying the lance and hearing the call of the tournament…
Begin your training. Earn your place. Serve as a squire. Learn the ways of the lists.
