Happy Wednesday!!

This week we're spotlighting Pack Walks and it's been so fun to go through my albums to find things to share. I love Pack Walks, it's most definitely one of my favorite services.

We always try to grab a group photo at the end and I love these.

If you'd like to learn more, check out our Pack Walk service spotlight post from yesterday.

SERVICE SPOTLIGHT: PACK WALKS

What is a Pack Walk?

A Pack Walk is a structured group walk with training built right into it.

And when I say training is built into it, I mean it! Training happens throughout the entire 60-minute walk.

Who are Pack Walks for?

Pack Walks are open to Klug K9 clients who have participated in group classes, private sessions or Board & Train.

They're perfect for dogs and handlers who are ready for the next step in their training journey.

You've laid the foundations.
You've started adding some challenges and distractions.
Things are going well.

Now you're ready to take those skills out into the real world and ask for a little more.

What happens during a Pack Walk?

Training, training and more training!

Depending on the location and the dogs participating, we may work on:

• Leash manners
• Leash handling
• Handler focus
• Sit, down and stays
• Working around other dogs
• Working in public places
• Increasing distractions
• Passing people, dogs and other real-world distractions
• And whatever else the environment gives us to work with!

And yes — the handler gets training too!

You're there and you're a big part of this. Throughout the walk, you'll get spotting, coaching and feedback to help you and your dog successfully work through the challenges we encounter.

Is it a puppy play day?

Nope!

The goal isn't for the dogs to interact with one another. Instead, we're teaching our dogs how to exist around other dogs without needing to interact with them.

We're practicing neutrality, engagement with the handler and appropriate behavior around other dogs — not meet-and-greets.

How is this different from a group class?

Group classes give us a more consistent, controlled training environment.

Pack Walks change things up.

Locations change. Environments change. Distractions change. Even the group of dogs and handlers participating can change from one walk to the next.

That gives you the opportunity to take the skills you've already built and practice them in new environments with new challenges — while still having a trainer there to help.

PACK WALK DETAILS

🐾 60 minutes
🐾 $10 per dog
🐾 Open to current Klug K9 clients only
🐾 RSVP required
🐾 Less commitment than signing up for a 6-week group class

Pack Walks aren't just walks.

They're an opportunity to keep training, add real-world challenges and continue building on everything you and your dog have already learned.

SERVICE SPOTLIGHT: BOARD & TRAIN

Apparently, I haven't done a very good job of letting people know that I offer Board & Train programs. 😂 So, let's fix that!

What is Board & Train?

Board & Train is exactly what it sounds like — your dog stays with me for the duration of their training program.

For dogs who are new to my Board & Train program, the minimum stay is two weeks. Programs can range from 2–8 weeks, depending on the individual dog, their training goals, and the behaviors we're working through. I also offer refresher training Board & Train stays with the shortest duration being 1 week.

Every program is customized to the dog in front of me.

For some dogs, we start by laying or strengthening the foundations. For others who already have a solid foundation, we're able to start building more advanced skills and ability.

While your dog is here, training is a part of everyday life.

They receive multiple structured training sessions each day, along with plenty of opportunities to practice those skills while we're doing other things. But they aren't training every waking minute, either!

There's free time. Chill time. Play time. Walks in the woods. Time hanging out in the house. Playtime in the yard. And, once they're ready, public outings where we can begin putting those skills to work in the real world.

Who is Board & Train for?

It can be a great option for anyone looking for a more intensive training program, but it can be especially helpful for:

• Owners struggling with behavioral issues
• People with challenging schedules
• Dogs and owners who need more help establishing a solid training foundation
• Owners who feel overwhelmed trying to make progress on their own
• And yes — even people who simply don't enjoy the process of training. That's okay too!

But here's a REALLY important part of my program: I train you, too.

Your involvement doesn't begin the day you pick your dog up.

During your dog's program, you'll come for visits — and those visits include training sessions.

Of course, you get to see your dog and give them all the loves and cuddles. But you also get to see the progress they've made, see what they're capable of, and start learning how to work with them yourself before they ever come home.

You're a massive piece of this puzzle so it's important that you're involved early on too.

I can put a ton of training into your dog while they're here, but if you don't understand how to communicate with them, maintain their training, and feel confident doing it, that progress isn't going to hold up once they're back home.

And we can't have that!

Once your dog returns home, a set number of follow-up training sessions are also included so we can make sure things are going smoothly and work through anything that comes up during the transition.

What about equipment?

All first-time Board & Train programs require an equipment package. This ensures that you and your dog go home with the appropriate training equipment and aren't left trying to figure out what you need afterward.

The package includes:

• Training collar
• Leash
• Long line
• Raised bed

The goal isn't just to have a dog who works beautifully for me.

The goal is to send home a dog with stronger skills and a clearer understanding of what's expected — and an owner who knows how to continue that work.

You can find full Board & Train information, current pricing, and inquiry information on my website.

Here's a little real-world Board & Train work in action!

Once a dog has the foundation and is ready for it, we start taking those skills out into the real world. This means learning to work around the distractions that don't exist in my training area - because ultimately, that's where you need those skills to work.

We've been busy with dogs over here and I'm horrible about getting pictures!! 😂

We've got some changes coming that I'm excited to show you soon and I've recently learned that I suck at marketing. That's about to change too.

Thank you to all of my followers, clients, friends and family who are here and support me along the way. I see you! 💜

Kai and her family had their first skill builder one on one session with us today.
Addressing some "frustrated puppy" behaviors, loading the marker in a new place, handler focus and leash pressure work were our goals for today.
I'm so excited to be working with this team and can't wait to watch their progress!
