Special visitor alert! Benito the bunny stopped by for his eye checkup and absolutely stole the show. He enjoyed the treats… and we enjoyed spoiling him. A reminder that bunnies need regular eye exams too—those little peepers matter!

Meet Karolina Roszak, DVM
Practice Limited to the Diseases of the Animal Eye

If there’s one thing Dr. Roszak loves more than playing sports, it’s surgery, especially the kind that involves tiny instruments and even tinier eyes. Originally from Poland, Dr. Roszak earned her veterinary degree from the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences in 2014. Her passion for surgery (and adventure) took her across the globe, from small animal surgery internships in Germany and New Zealand to groundbreaking research at the University of Pennsylvania, where she explored retinal diseases in dogs and tested gene therapies that could one day cure blindness.

After completing the rigorous ECFVG and PAVE programs to practice in the U.S., she worked in Los Angeles and San Mateo. She later joined UC Davis, focusing her research on corneal diseases and AI-driven eye cell analysis during her Ophthalmology Residency.

Now happily settled in sunny Orlando, Florida, Dr. Roszak is pursuing her dream career in veterinary ophthalmology. She’s absolutely obsessed with microsurgery and is currently training in retinal surgery, where precision meets art under the microscope.

Her goal? To make veterinary eye care more advanced, accessible, and a whole lot less stressful for everyone involved. When she’s not performing (or planning) her next surgery, you’ll likely find her practicing sports, sipping hot green tea, or trying to convince her patients that the cone of shame really isn’t that bad.

In 2021, he successfully transitioned ownership of AEG and remained with the organization full time to assist during this period. In 2025, recognizing the need to support the Central Florida veterinary community, he launched a new practice, Elite Veterinary Specialists. Meet Brett D. Story, DVM, DACVO
Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmology

Dr. Story is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists and graduated with a major in Biology from the University of Central Florida in Orlando before earning his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University. His early work at UCF centered on marine biology and sea turtle research through the UCF Marine Turtle Research Group.

During his time at Auburn, he developed a strong interest in neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Tay-Sachs disease, which led to a passion for ophthalmology. His scientific focus includes the perception of the world by animals and the implications of retinal disease across species. Given the anatomical similarities between human and animal eyes, a significant portion of his research focuses on translational models of human retinal and neurodegenerative diseases.

Following graduation, he completed a general internship at the University of Florida and a specialty ophthalmology internship at Long Island Veterinary Specialists.

He was then accepted into the highly competitive and internationally respected comparative ophthalmology residency program at the University of California, Davis (2021–2025), where he focused on advancing surgical techniques and improving ocular comfort and vision in animals.

Dr. Story’s professional interests include ophthalmic pathology, neuro-ophthalmology, and various aspects of ophthalmic surgery. He has authored and co-authored multiple peer-reviewed scientific publications involving ocular and neurodegenerative research.

In 2025, he became a board-certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists.

Having benefited from exceptional mentorship throughout his training, he remains dedicated to mentoring others and is passionate about lecturing to veterinarians and scientists alike.

Outside of work, Brett enjoys running, hiking, water sports, board sports, and fishing, as well as spending time with his significant other, Peyton. He also shares his home with a cat named Leo and a tortoise named Ron Swanson.
