🎾 Can you get your dog’s attention when they want something REALLY bad?
Training isn’t just about getting a sit when everything is calm. It’s about being able to communicate with your dog when their excitement and arousal are at their highest.
Think about your dog chasing their favorite ball. They’re running full speed, completely focused on that toy—and they don’t see the car, person, animal, or other danger ahead.
Being able to gain their attention, stop them in motion, and redirect them back to you can be an incredibly valuable safety skill.
That’s why we practice obedience around the things dogs love most. The goal isn’t to take away the fun—it’s to build enough control that you can guide your dog even when their brain is saying, “BALL! BALL! BALL!” 😂
A happy, confident dog is great. A happy, confident dog who can still listen through excitement is even better.
