Okandogs IT IS ALL ABOUT CARING. In 2014, my wife, Jan and I, started trying to help Okanogan area dogs. There is no public money available at all to help out.

There are no funded Humane Societies or shelters for Okanogan County dogs. Any effort has to come from the private sector both in terms of money and effort. We have been successful in helping almost 6400 dogs so far. We have done this by rapidly responding to dogs in need and by building confidence and trust. Our successful adoption rate nears 100% through the use of carefully chosen transfer part

ners who put local area dogs first. The euthanasia rate and overall fatality rate is almost nil. As trust in us grows more people have chosen to follow us and to participate in our cause. We maintain a vet emergency fund to assist injured and ill dogs who have no other resources available. We have a program that provides free stay at home spay for mama dogs when pup litters are entrusted to us. ✨ Happy Tails: Hannah… now Piper ✨

Some dogs fight through more in their first months of life than any pup ever should. Piper came to us from Mattawa after being placed in a kennel with a deceased dog. She battled parvo. She broke her toe. She had every reason to give up — but she didn’t.

With the incredible care of her foster, Charlene Beck, Piper healed, learned to trust, and discovered what it means to be safe.

And then her miracle happened.

Piper was adopted by the most wonderful local couple, who split their time between East Wenatchee and the San Juan Islands. She now has an older dog sister showing her the ropes, endless adventures every other week on the islands, and a family who believes she was guided to them by the beloved dog they lost last year.

This is the life we dream of for every dog who comes through our doors — loved, cherished, and finally home. ❤️

🌟 🐶 Meet Harley — ready for his forever home after July 1st! 🐶 🌟

Harley is a 1½‑year‑old Terrier mix with a big personality, a bigger heart, and the kind of spirit that makes you fall in love instantly 🥰.

This sweet boy came to us with a broken pelvis 💔🐾, but you’d never know it from the way he greets every day — tail wagging, eyes bright, always ready for love. He’s healing beautifully and just needs a little more time on light activity while he finishes recovering.

Harley would do best in a home without small kids or rowdy dogs while he heals, but once he’s cleared, he’ll be able to run, play, and live life like any other happy Terrier. He can live with other dogs — he just needs a calm environment for now.

He’s working on potty training and leash skills, and he may get carsick on longer rides, but with patience and positive experiences , he’ll keep improving. What he lacks in experience, he makes up for in heart.

We’re hoping to find a person (or two!) who can assist with light maintenance and yardwork at our Cashmere locations — mainly weeding and basic outdoor upkeep.

This is a part‑time role, about 4–5 hours a day, 3 days a week-ish (flexible).

💕 FOSTER FRIDAY - “How do you foster and not keep them all?” 💕

The truth is… I do fall in love with them. Every single one.

Some stay a weekend, some stay long enough to feel like part of the family — and each one leaves a little paw print behind. 🐾

But fostering was never about collecting dogs. It’s about guiding them to the life they were meant to have.

If I kept one, I’d close the door to the next dog who needs a soft place to land. And then the next. And the next.

Every time I say goodbye, I’m making room for another life to be saved.

That’s the magic of fostering — your heart stretches 💗 instead of breaking.

These dogs weren’t mine forever, but I was lucky enough to be their safe chapter on the way to their happy ending.

🚨 EMERGENCY FOSTER PLEA 🚨

We have a group of small dogs plus a 6‑month‑old Pyrenees puppy, all seen in the video. We don’t have ages or genders yet, but they can all be split up — we just need safe places for them to land.

A foster home — even short‑term — makes all the difference for dogs coming out of situations like this.
