I brought Maevis to fan fusion this weekend. She’s been to the Ren Faire and a lot of places. She’s with me all the time so naturally she’s very good in pretty much any situation I put her in. But as I say in a lot of my classes I teach- dogs learn where you teach them. They learn in pictures. And Fan fusion? That’s its own very distinct, very overstimulating picture. And I knew she would be stressed- so we came prepared.
Our first day was yesterday, Friday. A significantly more low key day, our practice round. We were only there for a few hours before I went to the Alex Warren concert.
She’s at the point in her day to day training where I don’t reward her for everything, it’s far and few between. She doesn’t need it and doesn’t care.
But I’m so glad that I brought her a lot of snacks 😆 she leaned heavily on me giving direction with how busy and overstimulating it was. But was only actually spooked twice- once with a loooong, huge, blow up dragon. Fair enough, I totally get that. And second, when a group of people when sprinting close behind her. Also fair, I don’t much love that either 😆 overall she did great and I’m so proud of her.
Shes the best girl and does her best to take everything in stride.
Today- will be more chaotic. I’m prepared to step out and find hiding spots to help her recalibrate if needed but I think she’s going to do great. Wish us luck!
